If that gave you the chills, I suggest reading up on Rubython's inside story about how the Simtek's passed the crash tests...

That's why Mad Max has blood on his hands.

Yup; read that a long time ago. I like the Brabham article; a true first hand inside view from a driver....

Good read. I've watched the senna movie probably five times already and Roland and senna's crash gets me every time

I know. The really interesting part is that he only retracts that Whiting was in the know. Doesn't absolve the crash test nor Mosley. Also interesting that the chassis in question is buried in a field according to Rubython.

Try searching the internet. It was after all Rubython's second most read story (#1 being the background on MS' first retirement).

I read it in Business F1 magazine to which I had a subscription. Expensive but worth every pound, most fascinating background/inside stories you won't find anywhere else.

I remember seeing a big hole in the cockpit of the Simtek after the crash.

Although even if the car was fully compliant, for Ratzenberger it was impossible to survive, his injuries were in the head and neck and with 1994 safety standards apart from the helmet, there was virtually zero protection for that.

I doubt his crash was survivable with today's cars. Frontal collision into concrete will break the neck.

The real issue was the front wing, which broke off. Allegedly he hit a kerb or something and should have gone back to the pits to get a new nose.

I think that HANS maybe could have made a difference in that crash.
