The Fosker's writeup doesn't suggest anything other than an example that was perhaps not properly cared for. It does say the owner wanted one that was perfect, hence the resto. Speaking of restorations, a client of mine is having his 288 GTO completely restored by Classiche in Maranello and will take delivery of it there as a new car.
The GTO was shown at the FOC GB Concours in 2009. It looked absolutely stunning to me. The Evans GTO was there too. Image Unavailable, Please Login

Hi Joe, Thankyou. I have the same thing. My photos posted all over the internet, regardless of my copyright info present (most of the time). I do have a lot of other GTO pics and will post them when i get a moment. Have just sold a shed load of colour negatives of old Muiras and GTO's etc from the 80's...but i still have plenty left
Thanks Paul for taking the time. Looking forward to what you have! Meanwhile, if this is also one of yours I can credit it also. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Here's one for a moment. The previously discussed 'B591 OPG' GTO just leaving Brocket Hall back in 1989. Not a brilliant photo, thanks to my mate's Daimler Double Six breaking down on the way to Brockett Hall, we just about managed to miss the entire day, albeit a few shots of cars leaving the event and a few display cars dotted about inside the grounds. The only good thing about turning up at the end of the day after such a saga was Lord Brocket inviting my friend and muself into the house for a look round and a glimpse at his collection. Unfortunately he didnt want us taking photos inside. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v19/blitzen/ferrari/GTOB591OPG_small_zpsd42b22d3.jpg
macari asking £1.6 mill for this car ! is that really where mkt is on 288 ? Cars for Sale - Cars for Sale - Joe Macari
Joe I know the factory literature stated Goodyear "NCT" tires when new but as I'm sure you're aware, all cars came with Goodyear "Eagle VR50" tires first introduced on the Corvette in 1983. There was also a slight change in sizing between "spec" and true production I believe. The spec sheet lists 225/55-16 front and 265/50-16 rear, production cars wore 225/50-16 front and 255/50-16 rear. It's my hunch that Ferrari intended to use the NCTs in the sizes stated in the press release but switched to the Eagle VR tires when they became available as they were a newer design. Interesting interior on that car. Red inserts on dash but all black upholstery on the seats. Possibly a retrim at some point?
Tim, excellent detail on the tires, of course you are correct, we are used to parroting "NCT"s and we ought to change that. Yes, red inserts on the dashboard is a clear indication that the seats had red inserts also.
