Now this one is one of the rarest ones to find, so is from an early car, no momo word in front, just stacked MO MO in back, but same rim 360mm same stitching, same weith (very light), a really rare Dino wheel to come by, notice the aluminium rivet that covers last hole, very correct in all Dino Momo´s, this steering wheel is in restoration, , original leather will be keeped so it shows no cuts, it will be restitched and leather rebalmed until good soft normal condition, patina will be keeped.

    Kindest regards

    Hello Paulo,

    great summary....
I can tell you, that all 1973 production Dinos with original steering wheel I saw were marked Made in Italy M 2340. I also agree on third version "MO MO" on the back side. This one seems to be from a M-series Dino. The steering feels a little bit thicker and more stable. Find attached a picture from the M-series sales brochure with the original M-series steering wheel.
Prototypo steering wheels have always been an after market product, not factory fitted...

    Regards Matthias

The stacked MOMO on the rear of the spoke is the same marking as 206 and L-series wheels so makes sense this was 1st. There must have been a change with Ferrari branding in '71, with the E-series to allow MOMO logos on the front of the steering wheel. Did MOMO become the official supplier at that point or ... Ferrari got a better deal? :)

    Paulo,
Thanks alot for this great information and photos, the M 20340 wasn't limited to Ferrari production but a point in time. If we knew more about the patent or registered design information we can probably figure some dates however 1973 is close to information I read elsewhere.

    Paulo,
Post#52 appears to have a metal plug filling a smaller 3rd hole under the leather on the 3rd spoke, is that correct?

Sorry... Reread the post it's an aluminium rivet.

I think the rivet covers the 3rd hole which is always in the spoke, see my post above.

Docbell, by now you have figered it out that you have a MOMO prototipo in your car, it is possible that was mounted some when in the car history. Nevertheless is a great wheel, can I ask is it a 370mm?

    Hi Mathias,

So just to follow up, this is the steering wheel that is now recovered, and it´s the stacked MO MO in the back should be for an M series? Do you think??

    All the best

yes, that's what I noticed, at least for early/mid M-series, l'm not sure about late M-series nor when the change to the later steering wheel took place. I would think at some point during 1971.....

I have a 1972 246 GT and have what I believe is the original steering wheel . However the wheel needs to be repaired and recovered Does anybody have a contact for someone that can repair an original wheel.
THe metal rim (under the covering ) has been bent and the weld broke . so it will need to be taken apart and welled then recovered..
Please advise....I have a reproduction I am using now but the rim diameter is a little thicker and smaller in diameter.. just does not feel right.

Your work looks very nice indeed.

There are no more MOMOs for the 308GTB, so I predict you will be seeing some work from our group!!
