I wonder if they will bring the Nordschleife up to FIA F1 safety specs, and then run the GP on it again?
I can't see that ever happening . I doubt if the could maintain the safety and rescue organisation of F1 standard to such a long track, for one thing. That would need thousand of marshals, plenty of rescue vehicles and crews, etc... several evacuation points, etc... Also, to conform to FI! safety standards, the Nordschleife would have to be modified so much, run off areas created, corners modified, etc... that it wouldn't be the traditional Nordschleife . Just compare the old Hockenheim and the new track to have an idea of the changes necessary. From a spectators' point of view, it may not be a good idea either. Less laps, of course, but gaps of 6 or 7 minutes before you see the leaders battling. I don't think Ecclestone would like that!
Porsche LMP1. What we're going for in SCG 003C is LMP1 as GT that remains classically beautiful. Not so easy but I think we will do it... Image Unavailable, Please Login
At the Ring we will be in the top class which is SPX and we will meet all requirements. We could meet Le Mans/ACO/Tudor/WEC etc. GT if we become a small volume manufacturer and sell a run of road cars. The regularity requirement for that could work in Europe, The Middle East and China so it's not impossible. When we show the car in Geneva we will see. Even without that we've been invited to many other races but without much more sponsorship or road car sales we're not going down those roads. We're talking about 12 road cars at a good 1.5 Million euro each. These would be road legal in the markets mentioned and easily convertible to race/track day versions if desired and back to road legal status.
A new development for us is that we are talking to a possible "Naming" Sponsor about fielding a two car team (SCG 003 XXX) and running other endurance races that have invited us as well. This would give us much greater chances of doing well as winning with a one car team is VERY hard. We're also going to add lighting and use colors that are easier to see. P 4/5 C being black and low was very hard for other cars to see at night. At night P 4/5 C was a Dark Shark. Image Unavailable, Please Login
LMP closed cars look all the same. Porsche, AUDI, Dome, ORECA, OAK-Ligier, etc... It seems all the designers have reached the same conclusion as to the shape, and the imposition of a dorsal fin hasn't improved the chance of marking one car from one other.
These are GT3 cars racing a 6 Hour at The Ring. They are racing the GP course. We race the GP course and The NS "The Green Hell" for 24 Hours. This will give you some idea as to why we race and why we're making our car easily convertible from road to race and back to road by an owner. Enjoy https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_eGDZB-tJJs
We'll be there for the 2015 N24 (annual pilgrimage), but I can't imagine the 6 hours. No darkness, no Nordschleife and only 6 hours! The N24 has spoiled me! See you in May!
