Hi Tim, Thank You so much for posting all of these wonderful pictures of your LM. I am building the Pocher 1/8 F40 and converting it to LM specifications, including building a correct frame and your photos are an enormous help in getting it right. Do you have more photos you can share here or privately? If not, I'm happy with what I am finding here. Enjoy her when she is finished. The F40 is such an incredible work of mechanical art, especially in the LM variant. Regards, F40 LM Addict
Tim I cannot recall if you mentioned this prior, but has anyone been kind enough to get you a good base map for your Motec for this rig? Tuning that should be fun, but potentially time consuming. Looking great
I hope he does get a reliable basemap. Tuning will certainly be time consuming! Really excited for you Tim!
Yup, guinea pig already been there in a race series so that will provide the base map. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Hi Tim, I sent you a private message on additional photos. Thank you for your kindness. F40 LM Addict
Hi Tim, You should publish a book on this restoration. I think it would be a great seller. How you have documented this process is really fantastic. Regards, F40 LM Addict
I will put a book together, not to publish, but purely for anyone who is interested aside obviously for myself as a record. I will collect names closer to the time if anyone else is interested. Meanwhile, fuel tanks now in for good, all plumbed up so next we can return the lump to its natural home now that hopefully all clutch issues resolved. Image Unavailable, Please Login
I think you might be surprised at the level of interest in a printed version of this wonderful journey. This thread has been a wonderful read in itself. To be clear, I'm one of those who would be interested.
Tim, I am in the U.S.A. and heard about your rebuild thread through word of mouth and became a FerrariChat member just to be able to follow along. I am among many here and abroad that are grateful for the time and effort spent on your part and others to not only carefully document the tear down / rebuild process of your wonderful machine but also to be open to have discussions on the forum and elsewhere about the various decisions and milestones crossed along the way during the build. It has been and remains a very interesting read to follow - one that I always look forward to reading. If I get the chance to come to the UK in the future I would be delighted if the opportunity presented itself to come by and have a look at the car. Who knows maybe my presence might coincide with one of its public outings (even down to the local pub). Lastly, please do add me to the list of those who are to receive a copy of the restoration book. I would be most grateful to have a copy. Cheers, Sergio (sssevita)
I can't wait, please do consider me when you get around putting it together!! Fantastic work! Philipp
put together a book , photos , description of the journey , parts used , problems found , solutions created , then make a video on DVD of the car being driven when finished and you could sell 20,000 copies and maybe pay for the whole rebuild. it would be DUMB if you dont.
Actually I am first on the list and Tim can verify that I was the first to ask him about this but that is just nitpicking and I will let you cut the line .
Thank you all for your suggestions and yes, I will certainly do the book for whomever wants it but not many, but having already published professionally, I won't be going down that route again, but will do a book and when it comes to testing a video in addition. As I said before the worry is it will not be a perfect ride and you understand why the Rissians did all their space shots in secret. Meanwhile, back on the front, we are moving towards insertion again..... Image Unavailable, Please Login
I want on that list as well. It'll look great with Tim's car built in miniature sitting next to it. F40 LM Addict
