My Queen ticks at the fuse box when I use the brake. I know this is the switch/relays or something, but is there a mod for this to make is quiet? When you are in traffic for an hour, stop and go, the ticking starts to drive me nuts...Then I get road rage, but I never do usually..
Mine does this too! I always figured it was a sign the relay was about to go out, but it's been doing it for 20 years and still works.
Its fine most of the time but I live out in Lala land so the traffic is terrible, and that clicking is driving me nutty.. Any ideas?
Guys it's supposed to do that, it's the brake failure indicator circuit/relay. If something in the brake system fails it lights up one of the lights on the instrument cluster. They go into detail about it in the owners manual. If I remember correctly it is a Lucas relay, so that says something. Zac
Hi Zac, Yes, I totally understand, you hit it right on the head..LUCAS...I have a Morris Minor Traveler with LUCAS all through it.. But I was just thinking after all this time maybe someone here has figured out something to replace the relay with that makes a quiet.
I have owned 2 that did not tick when the break lights went on only when The turn signals flashed. Relays are cheap to replace just do it! Time spent checking, cleaning up all items related to the fuse panel is well Spent and will cure many Queen problems. Remember how old some of your Wiring is if you haven't replaced it
