I paid 55k for 49xxx mile car this time last year, 1991 black on black. Interior 9/10, exterior has some pretty good rock chips 7/10. Replica speed lines with some rash. Overall car is a 7.5/10. Btw, love it!
Come on, you're selling yourself short! I'd give your car a solid 7.8/10 at least. Actually, Todd's 964 is flipping GORGEOUS. He let me drive it once, and it was amazing how tight, solid, and controllable it felt. Hard to believe it's over 20 years old. I've seen him pull up with two kiddos in the back, one of those in a car seat, and still has room for him and the lady of the house. So if you're looking for a fun car in that price range that can haul kids, definitely put a 911 of some sort on your list. Also, don't forget to tell him about your aftermarket suspension setup....really gives the car a great stance.
930 prices have moved up quite a bit, so presumably a lot of owners are thinking the 965 is next. They might be right.
964 is the car code name, "965" meant to distinguish Turbo variants offered by Porsche. Not official, I think its the prototype code name. its now commonly used as "965" reference to the Turbo of the 964 class.
I always thought the 965 meant the 3.6 Turbo, and that 964 Turbo was for the 3.3 cars. I could be wrong...
In Europe, price for excellent conditions turbos, are - 3.3 Euro 55-65k (up 40% in the last 3 years) - 3.6 Euro 90-110k (up 100% in the last 3 years) Enjoy (it's unfortunately kind of dirty)
965 was the prototype of the car that was supposed to be the 930 successor. It was very 959esque in design. The real 965 | Total 911
Sorry I know this is a old thread and I'm late to the dance . 964 turbos (along with 930s) seems to suffer from hot start/running issues a lot and as someone had mentioned leaky power steering racks, and also look for a/c issues. The warm up regulator (expensive new, but can be found rebuilt) and fuel accumulators are common fixes for the hot running issues so run it good then shut off and start and see how she performs. You will know right away if there is an issue as it'll run very angry and backfire or hesitate a lot. Also just as a point of ref and as others have indicated all 964 turbos have seen a substantial increase over the past year. A good 40-45k mile example should be had around the $58-62k range and the 3.6l ..forget it they are well into the 100k range. Also having owned several Porsche air-cooled models, they will in some cases make a Ferrari look cheap to maintain.
