Fellas, the Cabrera will be a twin clutch. You can thank Audi for that one =)
Put down my $25k deposit today and am #6 on the list at my local dealer. I'm told it will have a combo cf / aluminum chassis and be 300+ lbs lighter than the Gallardo. It will have a DCT either 7 or 8 speeds which they were quick to point out will be different than Audi's S-tronic. However, I would expect that it must be based off the S-tronic. Expect initial orders to be entered in March with first deliveries late June for a July 1st launch in US. I'm also still on the waiting list (6 months now) for a 458 Spider. As of today, dealer will still not give me any indication of when my order might be entered. In the meantime, it will be fun deciding between the two. I only have room for one more.
Got update from dealer today and a link to the new Lamborghini launch site. http://www.hexagonproject.com/#!/en/ No info but does have the new engine sound bite.....
It's going to be a combination of aluminium and CF. Audi has been developing this hybrid construction for a while now. Lots of articles in the past about it. DCT is guaranteed.
I don't know what to think of it, especially of the front splitter. Also the back looks a bit to much like the Aventador when you look from the side. Edit: found out that it's a reconstruction, not the real car.
I dont think the car barely compares to the 458 and how do they expect to compete with the 458 replacement only having about 600 hp in the Lamborghini?
If I were a buyer I'd certainly hope that my new 2014 Lambo would be at least a little faster than a 5-year old Ferrari. But what happens when the 458 replacement arrives in a couple of years?
I'm not sure, but all these cars are at such a tremendous high performance level, it can not go always faster and faster with more power and more power. be honest: it is already ridiculous to see how these prestige monsters are moved in daily routine and public traffic. New values are required - producers are required.
I have read the car is going to come in at 3300 pounds about. I dont know what that is in kg but I dont see that running circles around a 458. They predict a 0-60 of about 3.2 I think I read. That is what the 458 does without all wheel drive.
It doesn't matter what the new G is because in a year, Audi will introduce their own version at half the price and kill it.
The Gallardo weighed in at 3,042 lbs (1,380kg). I'm told the "Cabrera" will weigh approximately 300 lbs Less. With 600hp and the new DCT it should compare favorably.
Yup, they started taking $25k deposits last week. I've got the #6 slot at my local dealer. Am told will need to commit next March when orders are first entered. I've also been put on an email notification list which is providing glimpses / teases of the specs as they are released.
Lambo sent me an online survey of the new car. I completed it and got a free coffee mug. Something tells me that the only thing I'll ever get from them. Honestly, so far, that car looks like it's reflecting the modern look of society a bit too much: Obesity. Too many cars look flabby to me. This one seems more than usual.
