    Cynic!

The things we have done that are proved to add power are these:

    1. Bore your throttle bodies
    2. Bore and smooth the runners and interior plenum
    3. Free flow single can exhaust
    4. Free flow catalytic converters or test pipes
    5. Cleaning your injectors

By doing this you can expect to gain about 30 HP over the older year output or about 18 HP over the later years. If you have a Euro engine, the gains are probably not quite as much, but notable. The greatest change will be quicker throttle response.

The "new" engine with 20hp more is nothing more than an improved muffler system.

    Add lightness.

Didn't they change cams , intake manifolds and ecu's also on the later 20hp more GTS/GTB?

No cam change. ECU change was only to 2.7 and not concurrent with hp change, there was no intake change except to the idle regulator location, and again not concurrent.

    Get the intake runners ported.
At the bottom of the runner, just before the fuel injector hole, the runners neck down, meaning the inner diameter gets smaller. Then it opens back up as the runner meets the port on the head. It seems to me Ferrari was trying to create a veturi there. It may increase velocity to try and keep the fuel atomized better as it enters the head, but it hinders flow, and is a pretty bad restriction at higher rpms. You will also want the velocity stacks, at the top of the runners, matched. Not one of them has the same inner diameter, and if your porter will do it, have all the runners flow matched.

Have the throttle bodies taper ported.
Mine where done by RobZ. They are 62mm at the mouth of the throttle body and tapper down to 57mm at the throttle plate.

A set of high flow, 200 cell, metal core, catalytic convers will help free up more power.
On the inlet side of the stock cats, just in front of the ceramic matrix, there is a plate that is suppose to act as an air diverter. I'm thinking the idea is to have the exhaust flow fill the cat better. It may help fill the cat but it is also a restriction and not good for flow.

A good free flow muffler will yield some more gains. Especially if your car currently has the dual can mufflers.

Make sure your fuel injectors are nice and clean.
It would be a good idea to send them out to get tested and ultrasonically cleaned. More air needs more fuel to make power. If your fuel injectors aren't up to the task you won't make as much power as you can.

You will also want to upgrade your fuel pressure regulators to ones that are rated at 3.8bar. This will help the small stock injectors keep up with the new air demands.

That should get you off to a good start.

Strange maybe they change only on the european version because i compared a 300hp TS and 320hp GTS engine once and the engine had some definite changes what i remember :

320 HP GTS manifold had different plenums and also different runners then the TS
    The intake valve was different
    The con rod was different
Intake and Exhaust Inner and Outer valvespring was different
The top valvespring retainer was stronger on the GTS/B
    The Exhaust was different

Here is what I know Samy.

It's all about the breathing of the engine. I have done dozens of dynos with my car, most of which have been on a Dynapack. The Dynapacks only have about an -8% loss because they are mounted directly to the hubs. My car makes 305hp to the hubs. Factoring the 8% loss puts my engine at 332hp at the crank. Vince and DeeGee both made 300hp at the hubs, putting them at 327hp at the crank. All of us have about the same modifications, except I have custom headers which gave me the extra bit of power. Darkangel put down 286hp to the hubs, which gives him about 311hp at the crank. All he was running was free flow exhaust and highflow cats, on a fresh engine. Here is the thread when we all had our cars dyno'd. http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/348-355/358985-dyno-day.html

The modifications listed work and verified on the dyno.

You still have the only 348 TBs modified by me Ernie. 100+ 300ZX Twin Turbo owners but you're the only Ferrari owner.

    WHAT?!

No one else has manned up and gotten theirs ported?!
    Dude!
What is up with you guys?

    It's like:

"How can I get my 348 to make more power?"

    "Get A, B, C, D, E, F, G.............modification."

    "But do those modifications work?"

"Yup, and here are the dyno sheets to prove it."

    ...............

I don't think the OP was asking how to spend again the price of the car in pursuit of more power. ;)
