    That's a P3, with bigger rounder headlight covers, a deeper radiator intake with no vertical bar, and older narrower wheels.

    But still 0846!

    C'est Les Grandes Heures de Montlhéry le 7/8 mai 1983.
    Là c'est le samedi, il faisait un temps pourri. Piper conduisait la P4 et Arnoux la P2/P3 (au ralenti, elles n'étaient pas en état). Ca valait quand même le voyage.
    Le chassis, pour ce que j'en comprends, est: 0846/0900-0003/0846.

    La P2, oui probablement 0836.
    Pour la P4, le n° de chassis, c'est juste ma nomenclature pour essayer de m'y retrouver puiqu'il y a plusieurs P4-Piper
    0846 parce que c'est l'origine de ce chassis, 0900 c'est générique au P4 construites par Piper, 0003 c'est le n° de chassis indiqué sur la facture lors de la vente et 0846 parce qu'elle a retrouvée son identité.C'est la première P4 Piper construite, elle est apparu vers 1978/79.
    Il doit y en avoir 2/3 autres (0900 0900a 0900c ?) mais je ne sais pas les identifier.

    Jim,

    Number 20 in post 4945, I assume is 0846 as P3/4.

    Number 1 in post 4953, I assume is 0846 as P3.

    The rear bulkhead, fire wall, call it what you will, look slightly different in the two photos, is that correct?

    Thanks Jim.

    Not being fully conversant with what went on, I can understand the need to alter the front and rear clips for aerodynamic and mechanical reasons, to house different bits of kit etc., but to de-rivet the main tub and fit new, seems to be a costly exercise, unless there had been some damage to the bodywork, in its P3 format.
