The link to the first video I posted in this thread has been removed. Here's a different link to the video. Perhaps a Moderator could replace the removed link in post 1 with this one???

He has sold 250 LM #6051 and 312PB #0886 is for sale by Jean Guikas in France. What amazing cars Lord Laidlaw has owned? I was feeling a bit sad for him selling all these wonderful competition cars. However, he still owns the NART 275 GTB/4 Spyder #11057, which as well as the GTO, will be a fabulous car for him to take to touring events now that he has stopped racing. I don't feel quite so sad now. :)

Here we have a pic of 9057 as it was when in my custody. No guaranties, as this car had been upside down before it came into my hands. Bear in mind that these 12 cars, although purpose-built and sharing almost no parts numbers with a standard GTB (not even the frame) were made to look like a regular GTB. That's why the filler is in the trunk, for instance. My wife regularly gets on my case for ever selling this car; it was a great car to drive and one of her favorites.

    Ed,
so, did it drive more like a 275gtb, or like a GTO? Not even the same frame numbers? Interesting.

I truly believe that the Laidlaw Collection deserve a better auction location.
Goodwood Revival would have been the right place for this great cars!

Thank you for sharing Ed. I am little confused. The car is being sold as RHD but Ed had it as LHD. When was the car converted? How did it leave the factory? Can the experts chime in? Steve? Marcel?

The Ed NIles car and the Laidlaw car are two different cars. Ed owned 9057 and the Laidlaw car is 9027.

These Long Nose 275 GTB/Cs are very special. The alloy used for the bodywork is even lighter and is thinner than that used on the already light street "Alloy Long Nose 275 GTB." The chassis was strengthened and lightened and the tipo is 590A. The cooking road going 275 GTB used chassis tipo 563, tipo 563/66 for the Torque Tube drive shaft versions and chassis tipo 596 for 275 GTB/4. The drive shafts were of the "interim" type. The engine, tipo 213/Comp, is dry sumped and sits lower in the chassis and has magnesium parts.

Dyke (DWR46) is a 275 GTB expert, a very long time ('77-'92) past owner of 09041 and has written articles in Cavalllino about the 275 GTB/C, which I have not yet read, so perhaps he, as well as Ed, could let us know the differences in how these cars drive.

Steve: Please go back and read the Cavallino and Prancing Horse articles. They are very detailed and provide way more info than I could ever do on this site. Amazingly, though they are 30 years old, the information is still 99% correct.

The Ferraris and the rest of the Laidlaw collection will be auctioned later today from 18.00 BST, or tomorrow if you're in US. No Ferraris were scheduled for yesterday/earlier.
