I want to thank Chris Parr , Scott , Doug, their wives, and all those others involved that make this an amazing event ! 3 days of driving the Pig Trail and other driver's roads in 53 incredible cars. Thanks also to Rob and Jennie for allowing me to come up after the dryhole bailout, and drive the Maserati Gran Sport and 328 Ferrari for a day each. Had a blast in both. Here are a few pics to get you going before Matt and the pro photographers show us their stuff. I met some great new friends, and hope to bring Dale back with me next year. Sitting for an hour at a table Wednesday night with Brian Redman, and hearing his stories, made my whole weekend. I asked what his scariest racing car ride was, he responded with a tale of the first long tailed 917, and doing 230 mph testing it on the Mulsanne straight at Lemans, and trying to keep it on the road as it went from side to side taking up the whole road. Which is a continuation? Recreation? Replica built over a road car? V-12, V-8? Not at all familiar w/ that car. Thanks
Rebody/recreation or whatever one may want to call it. Started life as a salvage 330. Has the original 330 V12 through straight pipes. Beautiful sound. Engine has been converted to fuel injection. Just finished a 3 year process of getting driveable and right. Put over 600 miles on it that weekend.
Cool as hell! I saw the P-3 run at the BOAC 500 on April 7, 1968. That particular race was won by a Gulf GT40 driven by Jacky Ickx and ... Brian Redman! How's that for a coincidence? Is the car a one-off, or are there others? Any more pics I can access?
Jim has made a few of these cars. No idea how many. He is still makeing them, but is using the 550 engines. there is a thread and a few pics in the MO section. Terrible, but I don't have many pics. Will have to take some this weekend.
If a picture is worth a thousand words, then that photo of mother and daughter is the equivalent of a set of encyclopedias!
