odd yes... chris bangle did it. you cant get odder than him!
You are correct about Bangles contribution. And Pininfarina did the interior yet oddly no mention of Bangle on the car yet Pininfarina is badged on both the exterior and interior . Im surprised Pininfarina allowed the exterior to be badged that way. Awesome car ( now that she pushing 300 plus hp) Love the Esprit even more though. Beev
yea i know... i worked at centro stile in torino right after bangle years and saw his sketches. there were 6 american designers there and 4 of us were from washington state! most be something in the water up there to make us all want to work in torino. most of the americans disbanded and moved on long algo. mike robinson, head of lancia elected to stay. i think he is the head of the bertone studio now. when the coupe came out, it had many "first" design features. the engineers had to tune the headlamp washers to rainbow on the layed back double bubble lens because it was a fix nozzle. a designer there said the way they emitted the soapy fluid was almost pornograhic on the way they worked! you will be suprised how many pinin cars are out there that dont have there badge on it. cheers hf
There's an Esprit S2 on eBay not far from me...looks a bit messy, but current bid is low ($3600). Don't think there's a reserve either...
Here's an 80s classics photo shoot we did recently in Warsaw for a Polish motoring website: http://www.motore.pl/2013/publicystyka/legendarne-kliny-ferrari-328-gts-lotus-esprit-turbo-se/ Unfortunately FChat murders the sharpness during resizing. That red S1 is actually the very first production Esprit ever made, chassis number 100G. It has been with the same owner since the 1980s, and has spent a considerable amount of time at the Lotus factory on display. It has a lot of interesting details about it that even later S1s don't have.
What is the latest word on the new production Esprit? The last version reminded me of the McLaren in general size and shape. Just Wunderin! Ciao, George
Just got this out of the garage for the first time since I bought it as a project car. Many issues fixed but still need to look at a gearbox oil leak. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
