The NART hitting $25M? Not SOOO surprising, given that - at this price level, just like top Picassos or other fine art - the top qualified bidders don't view it as money so much as a wire transfer, and can often get in ego battles because they want to win or are enamored with singular works.

What surprises me MORE is a 79 308 GTS in touched up, imperfect metallic beige hitting $60k. Nowhere near the scale of significance in terms of the investment/collector class, but VERY significant when you consider it's audience is not billionaire royals and tycoons, but $30k car collectors. This is exactly what happened in a very short span with Dinos.

That was actually a surprise to me - PF Cabs seem to have held steady around that number for a few years while other, less-rare, non-convertibles have rapidly risen. There are only so many factory roadsters between 1947 and 1962 after all.

The Mercedes W196 is the highest auction price. The $35m 250 GTO 3505 was not sold at auction. The 275 GTB/4 NART Spyder 10709 sold by RM Auctions is the highest priced Ferrari sold at auction.

Do you think that the proceeds going to charity made it easier for the bidders to leave some cash?

McLaren is...wow. Never really been a far of the car's configuration. This is just nuts for a car built in the 90's. You can't ****ing drive it anymore because of speculators.

Edit: RM is slow in updating their site.

These have been in that range for a while. Real ones are very rare.
