Hi all, I'm heading to Memphis / tunica over the Fourth of July weekend. Any suggestions on what to do/see? I'm staying at the Hollywood casino in Tunica Thursday night and somewhere in Memphis Friday and Saturday nights. Any suggestions on hotels? Where to eat? I'm catching a Memphis Redbirds game Friday night, but outside of that I have no plans other than Graceland and the civil rights museum. I'm open to all suggestions :)

My hotels are booked - I'm staying at Hollywood casino in Tunica and a Hampton Inn in Walnut Grove. Anyone know a good spot for some BBQ?

I like Corkys....but yes its a little corporate these days. Rondevous I guess was the hot name in the 90s when I was there.

My mother lives there now - I have only been to visit her twice since then. So, I am still learning the area. We liked Beale Street of course, so that's a must do while you are there.

Thanks everyone. I'm doing Graceland, the civil rights museum and Beale street while I'm there - I am definitely trying a burger at Dyer's - I hear they're worth the heart attack :)

I live just outside Memphis in Collierville. Corky's is good. Darn good for a "chain." Central BBQ is another I would recommend.

Some good photo ops of the Mississippi River down on Riverside Drive. Been to Tunica a few times but it's not my thing. Collierville has a wonderful historic town square with shops, an old gas station, good restaurants (including a Dyers) and an old steam engine and a few train cars. The old depot has been restored. More good photo ops for a Ferrari.

Redbird games are fun. In fact, going to one tomorrow night. AutoZone Park is a great place for baseball. Downtown Memphis is actually nice and relatively safe if you pay attention. The Peabody, the old Orpheum Theater, Gibson Guitars, Sun Studio, Beale St, and of course, Graceland can certainly occupy your time. My kids love the old trolley cars that loop around the city along Riverside Drive. Great value for a buck!

I won't be around that weekend but if you ever make it back, look me up. Same goes for any FChatter finding themselves in Memphis. I like it here.

Thanks Mark. I'm definitely doing Graceland, matter of fact my tickets are already booked. I've got tickets for Friday nights Redbirds game also. I'll look into the trolley - does it stop at all of the "touristy" areas?

If I recall, it has designated stops (and it stops often). I wouldn't use it for getting from A to B, but rather a relaxing tour of the river side of downtown.

Years ago I used to stay at the Hollywood......I liked it. What type of gambling do you like?

Blackjack mostly - I'll probably wind up at a craps table also, maybe a slot or two as well. I'm mostly going for the free drinks :)

You would find me at the card tables, playing Holdem. Across the street from Hollywood's is Sam's Town. They had the best BBQ ribs, both wet and dry ribs.

I'll probably be at the Hollywood all night Thursday, I may go casino hopping the next day though. We have dinner reservations at their steakhouse Thursday night - finally a chance to spend those hard earned comps from the Hollywood in St. Louis :)

You may not be happy, unless you are a serious high roller. I played at the ten dollar blackjack table and drinks were not complimentary. :(

Hmm...probably for the better - every time I'm in Vegas I always seem to have 1 too many drinks and place 1 too many bets :)

I've been at hollywood for about 4 hours now. Good news is free drinks, bad news is it takes 45 minutes for a waitress to come by and another 45 for your drink to arrive. The hotel is nice, especially the view:
