I just realized last week that both the engine cover and the trunk lid on my car are fiberglass.
I had thought only the trunks were done that way. Anyone else have both fiberglass?

Yes, I know of a SI car (1147GT) with fibreglass bonnet. I had always thought that his was an aftermarket until I read your post. Would you be able to post a few pictures of the structural parts of the underside? Then we can compare yours to his. Thanks.

With the exception of the central bezel, that looks like a standard aluminum hood to me.

    John,
Maybe I'm crazy. Do you have pictures of the hood you mentioned? I'd go out and check again but its snowing outside. I'm not going out there!!!!

Glassman, your hood is a standard aluminum unit with steel substructure. It's a horrible design because the front and rear of the hood are supported with two separate steel box sections. Then the hood prop is so low (at least with the SI cars) that the aluminum sub-frame between the two box sections breaks. Now who knows why Pininfarina didn't weld the front box section to the rear.

    Dear All,

I came across this 250 GT PF for sale in Germany:

    http://suchen.mobile.de/auto-inserat/ferrari-250-gt-coupe-pininfarina-kassel/175797636.html?&origin=PARK&ticket=ST-1018-kGjovnlM0f10vJ01dKy9-mycas46-2_c01_4201

Reportedly colour combination is authentic and the car is in very good condition. It is reportedly a matching number car, chassis nr, gear box and engine nr: 1433 GT.

The bonnet and the "side strips" seem to be not original for a 250 GT PF. It looks like that the bonnet is taken from a cabriolet, which model I am not sure. It look aesthetically pleasing though.

Would really appreciate your views regarding this car e.g. is there any history available for this car, authenticity vs price asked and any other practical input for assessing this car.

I will probably plan a trip to visit these folks to take a closer look at this car.

    Best regards,
    Dragonova

Dragonova, this is a very attractive PF coupe. I cannot confirm whether the additional body ornamentation came with the car, but the bonnet does not look like an aftermarket addition, in fact the styling is seen on some other period Pininfarina cars.

Marcel Massini, vintage Ferrari historian, has provided the info you see here:

Thank you Gents for your input. It is indeed a beautiful car however the asking price EUR 390 k which is USD 510 k seems to me over the top. Any views on the price or future price movements for this specific model.

    Best regards,
    Dragonova

I was hoping that a certain person would comment on the authenticity of the bonnet.

Were any bonnets with air scoops on the 250GT PF Coupes and also the 250 GTE 2+2s authentic?

When I was looking for a car, I did see some of the 250 PF Coupes with hood scoops.

I am nearly certain that a few cars came this way from the factory

Note no radio or a radio blanking plate on 1261GT.

This car is too early for a SII gearbox.

Also, where is the hand brake lever?

Michael, do you have an engine picture?

Yes - the owner has the car since 1966 and had the resto in original colour configuration.

    John,

How would that powder blue color interior look with a medium blue exterior instead of the typical tan or saddle most blue cars have?

Geno, I think you either go per original colors, or not. If you don't go original, then you ask yourself, am I doing this for me and me only, or am I doing this for me with the thought of keeping the car desirable/marketable should I decide to sell it. That said, I personally would pick that turquoise interior only if the car came with it originally.

If I were restoring a PF coupe, this non-metallic gray appeals to me. But, this 1705GT I like especially because it has a medium/dark green interior. I think this is a nice combination of wow+restrain, which fits the character of the PF coupe perfectly. I wished I had a better photo of the interior.
