Heading to Texas this week. What is a great place in the Southlake area - ambiance, bar, people etc... Bringing the wife and she wants to have fun but I don't want to drive to downtown.

Brio Tuscan Grille @ Southlake Town Square is nice, if not that there are plenty of other places within that general area.

Trulucks is great for seafood and right across from Brios . Brios outdoors patio is nice if the weather is cooperating .
Patrizios is within walking distance ( northwest) of both and is the newest addition to Southlake Town Center. I have not been there yet but I am sure it will be nice.
For steak, Kirby's is very close. Cool jazz vibe and great steak and only a few minutes east of Southlake Town Center.

I would 2nd Patrizio's for upstairs lounge for drinks and no kids, food knotch below Brio's Italian in Towncenter. Brio has indoor and outdoor covered bar, can be fun people watching.

Since Butterfly closed our favorite Restaurant and Bar is Trulucks which is in Towncenter.

Towncenter we make the rounds bar hop Trulucks, Copelands, Brio, Snuffers, and Cheesecake factory if really stretching your legs. :)

Pure beer bar #1 by far is Ginger Man south side of Towncenter on Southlake Blvd.

new chain restaurant Bonefish really good.

Even though we live in Southlake, you always have to mention Grapevine Main St., list is long of places, our favorite Dino’s.

that place really sucks, or the Grapevine location did, I liked the one off Midway or whatever the North Dallas was. I think the father did the Noth Dallas one and son did the Grapevine location. Great building, bad excecution on the food.

Which one has an upstairs outdoor dining area overlooking the parking lot? Tillman and I were recently trying to remember where that was and why we were there and neither of us could come up with it.

Campania. The upstairs outdoor bar is cool live music and all, when we go out to eat we usually don't want pizza though.

Heading to Trulucks. Sounds like you guys live in the area. What do you think of Westlake and specifically Vaquero as a place to live?

Talk to PST. Although he lives close to me he has lot and membership there. I think it's probably one of the nicest communities in this area, especially if u play golf. Only drawback is if u want the great Southlake education. Vaquero u have option of great small private school or Keller public, which is still a good public school.

If you like living in close proximity to Perot Jr and the Jonas Brothers Westlake is a great place. Westlake is quite good actually. Upscale with large plots of land for estate size homes....Far enough out to seem like you are out of the ratrace but still close enough to DFW Airport, TMS and good shopping and restaurants.

If you are moving to the area you might consider the north end of Keller that borders Westlake, Roanoke, and Southlake. Several really nice areas with large lots, nice homes, and great neighborhoods. Check out some areas on Pearson road near Dove road. Depending on where you are moving from I think you will be pleasantly surprised.

All this talk of Southlake is making me a little homesick... just thinking about margaritas and tex-mex from Baja or Mi Cocina or Mi Chula's right about now.

Co-incidentally I just finished a landscape lighting system there today.

Westlake used to be 5 acre lots minimum before Vaquero (The good old days).

Three break ins a month or two ago.
Hope you like living in a HIGHLY restrictive community.
    Not my cup of tea.
Get a ten gallon hat and a ranch instead !

But as close as it gets to Alliance in a larger $ gated community.
The pool looks to be a lot of fun in the summer.
