    Welcome Ruud!

Well, then you will definitely enjoy these pics from Zandvoort in 1985, even before you test-drove it.

    Hi everyone,

someone know where to buy the Yellow Fabric Brake Oil Hose from Clutchmastercylinder and Brakemastercylinder to Oil Reservoir?

Need to replace them on the GTO as they look old now.

Since my recent acquisition, I had a question and wondered if any of you have information related to the turbo boost level vs. timing curve or any sort ? Thank You in advance if anyone have some data.

Jimmy I've tried searching for the map for this car but have had no luck. There has to be a example or two out there running a Motec ECU or the like, and whoever tuned that would have our answer. Thus far I have had zero luck in finding such a person though.

Similarly, I hear and read all sorts of bhp claims but have yet to see an actual dynojet sheet.

"February 20, 2004: rare Ferrari 288 GTO comes to Speed Lab for a full day of careful fuel and spark mapping from our laptop computer. Using pump gas and only 12-13 psi of boost pressure, the 2.8 liter twin turbo V8 now runs clean, with a broad torque curve making 414hp at the tire. Ferrari rated this motor 400 hp at the flywheel. What a great sound it made."

I have no affiliation with any of this stuff, just sharing it. I am sure what you are looking for is out there.

UR welcome. From what I have been told, by the men who engineered & manufactured the 288 GTO for Ferrari SpA, the factory's power estimates are a tad conservative.

I have seen that post, show me the dyno sheet.

Fresh F40 engines flywheel dyno at around 500-550 or so bhp, and I believe that is an evolution of the 288 engine is it not? So how would a 288 engine minus the boost being raised yield similar power?

The 288s performance figures of the day I believe would be a bit quicker if the motor were sporting near 500bhp. The 288s performance figures are not that far from that of a vanilla 360. Thus the 288s bhp claims just sound a bit fishy. You would think a 288 would be substantially quicker with the power claims, especially with it's torque figures.

John, just trying to help you that's why I posted that material, perhaps as one useful lead for you to follow up yourself and answer all the questions you are posing. Good luck on your quest.

Thanks much Joe, you're a wealth of knowledge with these things.

I have no doubt that with a good amount of custom ECU tuning and boost increases that 414bhp at the wheels is indeed possible for a 288, but I can't help but wonder what 'dead stock' power for these things is considering their speeds are about in line with a 360, which on paper has less power.

    Honestly, I dunno.

When it comes to the classics, I'm less of a paper guy and more of a seat-of-the-pants guy. I really don't care if my 288 GTO is developing 375 bhp or 425 bhp. It seems wicked fast to me at @ 2,800 lbs, and all the while I'm just praying when full boost comes on, I don't wrap a tree.
