From hte Internal combustion Group web site: Internal Combustion Group Reports Death of Tom Hnatiw It is with deep sadness today that the family of Tom Hnatiw reports his passing. Tom was the Founder and President of Internal Combustion Group. With a thirty year career in motor sports, Tom produced or was involved in the production of over 500 shows relating to autos, especially auto racing. One of the most recognizable voices in motorsport, Tom is best known for his involvement in the shows, Hard Drive, Sports Car Revolution, Dream Car Garage and Car Guys. Tom was one of the best-known live racing announcers and a frequent automotive contributor to an array of magazines and newspapers. This is so sad. Tom was a good friend both personally and to Crescent. He did a nice program promoting Crescent for Dream Car Garage and this past year did a nice show dedicated to Crescent for Hard Drive. He was a great story teller. I spent many a very late night listening to his stories of motoer racing. I don't think Tom ever met a stranger. He always made you feel like you were a long lost friend. My wife never minded me hanging out with Tom till the wee hours. The worst that would happen is I might have a bit too much to drink, but I would be in good company. RIP my friend. You will be missed.
Very sad to hear this. Tom is someone I will never forget. His personality and passion were off the charts. Listening to him tell stories till 2am last year at the top of the Crescent Hotel....was a highlight for me the entire week. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family in this very difficult time for them. He will be greatly missed and never forgotten. Brian
OMG! I can't believe it, not expected. One of my favorite personalities. I'll post some pictures and memories tomorrow.
Just talked to Chris on the phone, he talked to Peter. It wasn't anything sudden. Chris is away on vacation and won't be able to communicate much until he gets back.
You have to ask yourself, do you need a friend like Tom? He is loud, obnoxious, will hit on your wife in front of you, then make you cry from laughter and drink you under the table. Do you want a friend like Tom,,, absolutely, you want and NEED a friend like Tom.
Well said. What a great man. I really enjoyed his contribution to the world while he was here. An honest to good car guy.
I heard of this yesterday. A tremendous loss of a tremendous personality. I knew him from World Challenge and he did the the voice-over for my company's phone greeting. Never a dull moment around that guy. He will be missed. R.I.P.
Great Canadian personality, will be missed, meet him a few times, great fun car guy. Rip and condoloences to his family, anyone know cause of death?
