I'm surprised an Authorised Ferrari dealer is allowed to sell this replica.

Its not in my nature to leave anything stock, I think it looks mean as hell. I agree on chrome window frames though. I dont know how I feel about a Ferrari dealer selling it, I would bet its the coolest car in their showroom.

I'm just saying as Ferrari has come down on people selling replica's of their cars I'm surprised they'd allow an authorised dealer to sell a replica Ferrari.

It's a modded Daytona to racing spec using many factory parts from the description. I'd hardly call it a replica in the full meaning of the word. If the factory supplied the parts then I'm sure they're fine with the dealer selling it. I like it.

It's a replica clone of a real Comp Daytona. It never raced anywhere nor was it made in the day. This is no differnt from taking a road Ford GT that never raced and turning it into a clone of a Le Mans winning Ford GT.

The factory has come down on Auction houses for offering Daytona's that have been cut into Spyders. The guys who made this clone had nothing to do with the Factory.

I'm probably wrong but isn't a 'clone' a car that's meant to deceive which this one obviously isn't? It doesn't say that it has anything to do with the factory does it? I didn't know that the factory could come down on auction houses for selling cut Daytonas unless they are being misrepresented by saying they were born as Spyders at the factory. You're far more knowledgeable than I so I'll shut up now.

Ferrari has been extremely inconsistent as to what they consider authentic.

This is nothing new. Nor should it be surprising.

"S/n 13991 was built by Bruno Bori of Modena Sportscars in LA as a virtual duplicate of the factory built 365 GTB/4C s/n 16407 which finished second overall in the 24 Hours of Daytona in 1979 with Morton and Adamowicz driving."

Matt my friend I do agree.

It is a "recreation" by my definition. It is a real Daytona, so not a replica.

I'd agree but as it's a clone it's a replica of a specific famous Comp. Daytona.

Its a gorgeous hotrod Daytona. If I did it I wouldnt have gone the recreation route but just make a period Daytona streetable racecar.... but its still nasty the way it is, I love it.

I've seen that one and it's very nice.

I agree that the dealer referring to "this 365 GTB/4C"
and it's VIN as C13991" is misleading and sleazy.

I have a buddy who is working on a Daytona that someone else starting giving the "comp" treatment to backin the 80s.

just to avoid this very issue, we are contemplating having "Frankentona" badges made . . . .

It's going to be a very scary car.

In the 80's, several shops cut many 365GTB/4 berlinettas just to make more money. Many of them don't have the GTS reinforcements and a flat trunk. And now we have more and more GTB/4s modified into "competizione Daytonas". Yes, they are fast and have a great sound. But an original Daytona is also fast and has a great sound. How many original Daytonas will be left in 15/20 years?

McCluskey is as good a coach builder as anyone. Many alloy Cobra body restorations(including Daytona Coupes-the Shelbys) and recreations.
