Is that all the stuff from his famous "basement"? Wouldn't it be nice if someone set up the Les Paul museum instead of all this stuff being sold off to collectors around the world?
His kids are keeping the good stuff. I was at his home in NJ with a friend of mine many years ago. It was like hoarders. He had a whole lot of stuff in that house. Never got rid of anything in this case it was cool.
Cool, great to hear. Will THEY open up a museum for a man who dedicated his entire life to bringing the joy of wonderful guitars to muscians around the world?
Some properly minted guitarist (Eric Clapton, David Gilmour, Edward Van Halen, Angus Young, Brian May, perhaps) should buy the lot and do just that. There's a whole museum right there.
There is some incredible gear there - thanks for the link. The estimated prices on several of those significant Les Paul guitars seem surprisingly low don't they?
Wow...thanks for that! I guess he liked blue? There are a lot of blue ones! I LOVE the '80th birthday' one! Wow, that inlayed fretboard.....sweet! Good thing I am a drummer or I would be broke buying some stuff, I'll send that file to Scott, tho.... Someday I'll afford him a LP Studio.......
I could afford those wood acoustic wall panels....that would be a fitting "piece of the man's work".. Are you registering to bid, Steve?? I'll take those, and the Gibson dobro.....LOL!
Mike: Thanks so much for finding and posting this link. I have some Les Paul memorabilia - a signed all access pass to the Gibson 90th Birthday parts, signed pick guard, etc. Nothing of real value. Thank you Les for designing the most beautiful looking and playing guitar in history. RIP.
They have the money and connections to make it happen, don't they? Wonderful to hear! At least someone will be doing something with all that incredible history.
