The end has finally arrived for Scott Tucker. He's been trying to hide from and outrun the SEC, IRS & FTC for some time but the jig is up. The only bad part of his demise is that the ALMS grid will lose prototypes. Maybe Tucker can go back to his old job as a Ferrari test driver!

    http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-31727_162-57408355-10391695/ftc-takes-action-against-race-car-driver-scott-tucker/

One moral of the story is that you can only launder cash through a race team for so long before the Feds put a jackhammer into your backside.

His other option could have been to run for

On a positive note, a lot of really, really nice paddock and pit equipment could be coming on the market.

I heard everything has either been seized or on lockdown...get in line!

I also believe that Tim Pappas/ Black Swan lease their P2 car from Tucker. Either they find a new chassis from someone in the ELMS or they go back to racing a Cup.

Its an ugly situation in that Tucker is also associated with Kelly-Moss. Hopefully they don't suffer any damage as that would have a big effect on their IMSA Challenge customers.

    shocker

hopefully ALMS/sports car racing doesn't get too much collateral damage in the MSM on this.

    That seems premature.

Maybe I could have a shirt to go with my Enron mug?

I talked to an owner of ALMS team yesterday - Tucker is in deep sh*t. I'll try to get a 1st hand account later today & see what's real and what's BS.

If he really wants to run the rest of the season perhaps he could get a payday loan.

When I saw Level 5 at Utah a couple years ago I was really amazed at their paddock equipment and race transporters. Amazing stuff I thought for such a small team. When I got home I did some searching about Scott Tucker and his origins and how he was able to fund such a team and have equipment like that.

    Then it all made sense.

I can't really say that I'm terribly surprised. Yet another in a LONG line of misconduct in the racing and Ferrari communities. However, as we all know, racing is EXPENSIVE, and once you're bitten...

Maybe John Paul Jr. can buy it out.

    Or J. David Dominelli.

    Any of you remember that?

Tucker must not have been that successful on the track, I've never heard of him.
Then again, I don't follow ALMS much.

Think you mean John Paul, Sr. He's the one still in jail... ;)

Junior was a very talented racer who IIRC was along for the ride. Sorry he's having health issues.

I know Sr. is in prison and probably never getting out so I didn't list him.
However, Jr. was part of the operation, but he didn't spend that much time in prison.
They had one helluva elaborate operation going.
Whittington's were involved too, if memory serves.

I heard stories of them showing up and buying IMSA cars and spare motors with suitcases of cash, 'no questions asked'.

    Those were the wild days.

    Hah!

Hell, yeah! Don and Dale Whittington. Owned Road Atlanta for awhile along with Randy Lanier (?). I saw some cash flying around the paddock twenty-five plus years ago....

Touring the paddock a couple of weeks ago at the Sebring 12 hour I gave Level 5 top honors for my choice of the most impressive set-up. The trucks and car carriers, the structure and flooring were all top shelf design. Even the LED light fixtures were over the top. I wanted those for my garage!! All in a mobile package......I had to go back 3 times to look again. Even cooler than Audi's.

Afterwards somebody had mentioned to me about how the authorities were closing in. Oh well. Something about too good to be true.........

Actually Sr is out of jail and missing again. Seems he got out, bought a boat, and his girlfriend went missing on the boat. Sr went missing shortly after if you believe everything you read on the internet.

I did not want to bring up that old scenario but Sr. must have had a "buried" account. They did love their racing though.

I thought after he (allegedly) hired people to kill jurors, threatened jurors in court, and went wacko he got a few 'life' sentences? Apparently not.

This is interesting. We've seen him at the LMS races last year and I wondered how in the hell someone was able to have that set up being a privateer. I had heard talk from people that his driving two cars in ALMS was "Tucker's Rule". I must say that arrogance was a little much around the area, unlike Tracy Krohn who is very friendly as was Guiseppi Risi. Not at all surprised.

It is also known that his Challenge championship was won in a car he serviced in his private team's garage, as opposed to a dealer's. Behind closed doors, of course.
