I wouldn't call it the best all around car since its fairly spartan and has some limitations but I have to admit the Boxster Spyder was by far the most fun car I've driven, such a well balanced car that inspires confidence.

    I think I may change my answer from 1986 MR2 to 1994 Mitsubishi 3000GT....

    Sports cars:
    1. F40
    2. 328 GTB - feels like a scaled back version of the F40. Still exciting at 5mph.
    3. 355 berlinetta - a little refined but small and nice
    4. 348tb challenge - nice go kart feel to it

360, f430, 997 turbo were all amazing cars to me but nothing that captured me or got me excited like these others.

    Regular cars:
    1.MB S65 hands down
    2. Jaguar XF. Also drove the supercharged version briefly. Incredibly good.
    3. Porsche Cayenne GTS

All just my opinion but after driving so many cars, I really do own the cars that I want.

Base you decision on handling and not power and you will have a winner between the two.

Tell me about it. I had to totally recalibrate my right foot, especially leaving stop signs and lights.

Lotus Elise. I didn't buy it because I realized I needed something more practical for my comfort, so I ended up with an SLK55

The best car I have ever driven is a lamborghini countach, and if I live another 100 years, my answer will probably still be the same.

Mazda Miata. Slightly modded and I mean slightly, for bigger wheels, exhaust and bolt on goodies. Just the all around most enjoyable car. I don't think I ever got out of the car without a smile on my face. Shows the majority of the population that you really don't know what driving at 9/10ths is unless you have a superb chasis setup but not the horespower.

Did love all my vettes too. The 92 ZR1 was silky smooth and engine was beautiful to look at.

For handling only, the MR2 would probably win. But the 3000GT is just so great....

Love the VR4, especially the 1994 model. The 1994 VR4s looked identical to their much less powerful counterpart. It is a dream of mine to someday own a VR4, regardless of the year.

By the way, how many MR2s have you owned and what generations were they? Mine is an AW11.

Most raw street car with phenomenal handling and awesome power to weight ratio. Colin Chapman knew what he was doing when designing these cars. No other car has a more visceral driving experience.....(I'll Let you know if this changes when i pick up my 430 in a week :)

The car that most surprised me in a positive way, being many times more friendly than I expected, was my TVR Griffith 500, on the test drive before I bought it. I was expecting it to want to kill me (it had an enlarged engine, around 350bhp in a 1000kg car) but after only a couple of miles I was already chucking it into corners with confidence. After 3 years of restoring and customisation, I will finally be able to drive her again this summer. Can't wait.

The other big surprise was my 330GTC in the mountains, once I learnt how to drive it (trust the chassis, stay off the brakes) it gave me enormous confidence, tremendous feel and a huge grin. Steering with the throttle whilst sitting on the axle is fantastic fun.

Yes sir the only visual giveaway was the VR4 emblem as the GT's looked identical.

I owned four through the years, an '85-'87-'88 and '92T. I drove ONLY MR2's from '85 (after some B... in a Merc ran me and my '85 AE86 GTS off the road) until '06. No matter how hard I pushed them and believe me I pushed them hard but they always started the next morning. When I overboosted my '92T and shattered a piston I still drove it home and to work the next morning (about 50 miles I would guess) on three cylinders, thankfully I worked at a Toyota dealership. So two weeks and $4K later I had rebuilt engine with forged pistons and a few TRD parts thrown in for safety.

You had an 86 and someone ran you off the road? That should be a crime. I love those cars. Anyway, that must have been really interesting driving to work on 3 cylinders. It's good to know that MR2s are reliable, because I will be using mine for daily use. It was interesting reading this, thanks for sharing.

It was a pleasure for me too relive those memorys. When I had my AE86 and picked up a buddy I worked with I asked him one day "Why are your knuckles so white and how come your hands hurts?" He explained to me it was from gripping the seat so hard as we drifted and did alot of 'testing' lol.

    My AE86:

An Enzo, although I only drove it 10 feet.
As far as actually driving a car hard it would be a tossup between an E39 M5 with Dinan S2 package, Lotus Elise, EVO X, or a 1978 911 Turbo.
