Pap, why are they so strict on this issue in Australia?
The Irish RHD F50 is probably the ex Brunei car that was for sale at Coys of Kensington. I made this pic in may 2005 : Image Unavailable, Please Login
It is an ex-Brunei car. Mods by PF. Power steering wheel (yes...), Climate control, sound system, power windows. Look at the PF logo on the center console. Five were made RHD for Brunei, they also bought three LHD. Two of the RHD cars were sold in UK. One through Coys and the other through Duncan Hamilton - who also sold an ex-Brunei RHD F-40 a few months ago. Conversions made at great expense. Way above the value of the car.
Those cars (except for 102852) were shipped new to Pininfarina, scheduled for RHD conversion, but the conversions were never executed; the conversion of 102852 was successfully executed (supposedly by the factory), and it was once in Prince Jeffrey's collection; last seen in the UK. It's hard to say without knowing the serial number.
I understand that 102852 was born Argento Nürburgring and only later repainted red. The conversion from LHD to RHD was done by Pininfarina SpA and NOT by the factory in Maranello. Marcel Massini
Thanks for the clarification, Marcel. My data suggests this car was born Rosso Corsa, repainted Argento, then repainted Rosso Corsa once again. Can you confirm if this car was definitely liveried in Argento before ever being swathed by Rosso Corsa?
Can anybody confirm these are the chassis numbers which were rhd converted. I remember a uk dealer recently had 2 f50's for sale, one of which was rhd and the other lhd, the lhd was £35k more than the converted car, although the rhd did have an interior which may not of suited the purists. Also at the same time another rhd appeared on the market from the city, but this car had a much wilder interior regarding colours, and ott. Both cars subsequently sold, and pretty quickly, cant remember exactly which advert stated it (almost certain it was the dealer, which is more enclined to know than more), but the advert stated 1 of 4/5 cars converved by spcial request completed by pininfarina, yet the dealer still has the lhd which they will of had for over a year now.
Which ones? The ones mentioned above? Those cars (107515, 107530, 107560, and 107575) were slated for conversion, but the conversions were never executed.
First link. Would that be UK rhd one you were talking about? http://ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=308196
Yes they were the numbers I was referring to, thanks for clearing that up. Yes that's the other car (i remember the photo inside a cleaning bay, and also the photo with a guy leaning in the car ), it looks like its the car discussed earlier as the car in Ireland. Thanks for finding that.
That doesn't mean that I am not still looking at trying to get one into Australia (Give or take a few years)
I bought 1 of the RHD F50's several years ago. It was UK registered and had been stored in a garage for a number of years but still retained by it's first owner who was a young Singaporean gentleman who also bought the McLaren F1 from the showroom on park lane.
