Anyone see the highlights from the press conference? I don't know enough of the back story b/w Tony & Carl but it sure seemed like a staged, boxing-esque hype event.

Other than for fantasy results, anyone have a preference of Carl or Tony?

I'm somewhat cheering for Tony b/c of the driver/owner angle but I don't believe his level of "owner" stresses is anywhere near what Kulwicki (RIP) endured.

I'm a fan of Carl's back story too, i.e. how he worked his way up and took the creative route to run ads of himself to get rides etc.

    Decisions, decisions...

Either way, happy to see the final race mean something in the championship.

I'm rooting for Smoke, he's an old-school racer, kinda like a more successful Ken Schrader (who, oddly enough, is related to Edwards).

I agree though, you really can't compare him to Kulwicki, Tony is just an equity partner and the team is effectively a satellite team to Hendrick.

Is Haas a silent partner? I don't recall hearing anything about him/them other than in the team name.

Three-headed approach maybe...Haas is the capital/business side, Hendrick is the parts/labor, and Stewart is the driver/face-man?

not sure of his role, but Gene Haas is still an owner. IIRC, the Stewart connection has a lot to do with his little tax evasion conviction...NASCAR didn't want (another) convicted felon owning a team. so Haas gave Stewart equity and re-named the team.

IIRC earlier they said the youngest series champ was 27 and Austin is 21. Certainly helps to have a RCR in the family.

Good finish to the Nationwide season...congrats to B. Kesowhutski.

Cousin Carl finished 3rd and on pole for the Cup race...should be a good one.

no kidding; is this a NASCAR race or an Obama fundraiser?

looks like Smoke is having some problems with cooling? they're replacing the front grille.

also, if Smoke wins this championship, that would mean two guys (him and Johnson) have won 8 of the last 10 championships. funny how nobody is mentioning that...

I like Edwards but Smoke is a racer through and through. I'm pulling for him.

Great in the Mobil 1 commercial. To Hammy sitting in the Cup car: You look ridiculous in there.
