    I agree.

what's interesting is that it's Mars, and not JGR, who is forcing the issue here.

Mars has the money, they call the shots, as they should: today, too much is at stake, it's not like it was even 20 years ago.
What if (name driver) was to intentionally go whacko thru the pits after a race and mow down 12 guys, killing some, because he was passed on the last lap for the win?
That would do the sponsor a lot more harm than good.

The problem is, it always seems to involve Kyle. Well, sometimes Keselowski, but most of the time it's Kyle.
You don't see too many other guys doing that, but when you do, it's the same guys, but Kyle takes it too far.

I think you missed my point. I think it's sad that Joe Gibbs, who has dealt with his share of prima donna athletes, isn't taking the lead here and firing KB; he's letting his sponsor decide whether or not to do that for him.

there's as much (maybe more, at this point) liability for JGR to keep KB as there is risk for Mar's brands to keep sponsoring them.

Also you could see the disappointment on Joes face last weekend when Kyle was climbing into the pit box, Joe was NOT happy with Kyle. Man I would loved to have been a fly on the wall at their closed door intervention but Mr.Gibbs is a very religious and intelligent man so I doubt there was any screaming just sulking on Kyles part.

The kid need's to growup!! He has so much potential and is usually a joy to watch.

Oh no - I got your point, and I agree with you totally.
I was only suggesting I think MARS is forcing the issue, I don't disagree one bit, Gibbs SHOULD have done something.
(sounds eerily like Joe Paterno eight years ago, don't it? Maybe if I just ignore it the issue will just go away by itself)
Gibbs is probably having the lawyers figure out if he can fire him for 'cause', but every driver contract has a morals clause, but is this a morals issue?

Please do not bring this matter into the topic at hand simply because there are alot of other people involved who did not nipp it in the butt even when/after they were informed of how to proceed.

    No, you're fine.
I was not trying in any way to take it off-topic, but nascar has a way of sweeping things under the rug: Kyle gets probation thru 'the end of the year'?? Wow, big deal, the end of the year: what fools they must think we are: how about thru the end of NEXT year? THAT would be more like it.

anyone else watching the Nationwide race from PIR?

    a) I don't like the changes to the track

    b) this is a demolition derby!

    c) how long until they enforce a "yellow line rule" on the backstretch?

    d) can Hornish pull this off?

    I watched the last ~ 35 laps.

Interesting use of the apron.

Sucks for Sadler and Shepard (70 yrs old!).

    Congrats to Hornish and Penske.

yeah, I expect there to be an "out of bounds" declared for the Cup race tomorrow

I can't believe Morgan Shepard is still racing.

and Hornish may just have saved his NASCAR career today. I'd still prefer to see him back in IndyCar, but he needs to get a full time ride somewhere. a win like this will help that cause.

IMO, Sadler over stretched the performance of his car to make that pass, an paid the penalty. His move had him going in too hot, he had to back out, slowed down, and did it in front of two guys racing side by side for position. I feel sorry for the others that got caught up in, but it was pretty much 100% Sadler there. When a guy cuts up in front of you, and you are on the edge, its awfully hard to check up in time, especially if you are looking to your right at the guy on your door.

FWIW Leffler took the blame for that one.

you can see in the replay that Sadler gave him enough room (several feet), then Leffler got on the brakes too late and tagged him entering T3.

    ...and he seemed sincere.

Before the interviews the commentators said the same, i.e. it was Leffler's responsibility to recognize that Sadler would need to brake early and that he (Leffler) needed to act accordingly.
