Not original perhaps, but I have a 75 GT/4 here in my garage that the owner recently put all new l.e.d. fixtures in. You won't take top honors at a concours, but nobody will run you over on the way to the event the night before, either.

I'm getting set up to overhaul the fr/rr suspension, so there'll be an album in my gallery on the work performed, I'll get a few shots of the lights too.

    Those reflectors look really nice.

I bought new amber lenses for my car from Superformance a couple of years ago, price was downright reasonable. I didn't check into the red stop lights.

These are the same lenses from the 246 and Daytona, I believe.

I would be interested in a set to replace mine as they are in similar condition. A recent discovery after changing all my bulbs.

I've got some that look just like your first picture. I would buy. Are you checking for interest to get a batch made. If not, perhaps one of the specialists could pick the idea up. There must be a lot of corroded ones out there. Thanks for showing us the possibility.

Those four reflectors were done during the current restoration of my father's GT4 in Switzerland. Sourcing NEW replacements was not successful, and one second hand item bought from a German source was barely acceptable. So another solution had to be found.

My father made the former on his lathe, and a small local shop owned by a craftsman beyond his retirement age spun them for him. My father polished the inside, created the cutouts for the lamp sockets and had them chromed. The whole process is quite labor intensive (polishing, finishing) and that would be reflected in a potential price/piece. There won't be any real economics of scale I am afraid, except for transport/shipping.

If there is an interest however, please let me know how many will be needed. I'll see what can be done in terms of price and timing. I have attached an Exel file; please pass it around among interested parties and send it back to me for an evaluation.

    Hope this helps!

I have six of these Carello light units surplus. I am changing to 4" school bus red and yellows. Exterior near new but chrome inside not so nice. Are you interested? I suspect there is a process that can come close to original chrome in reflectors. I am also selling a pair of original big red lens surround rectangles with circular reflector. One has tiny crack, other like new.

Several other parts surplus to current needs.

G'day Mark, Please check out eurospares.co.uk - follow the prompts - page 123 lights. Select item 3 in the left column. Complete assembly is GBP92.40 . It's 'to order' so probably from Taiwan or close-by going by the price. If you find that they are ok, I'll be buying a complete LHS assembly (1976).

    Regards, Col

    Hello

Just noted this thread. It is wery nice, that tools for making reflectors already exsists!

My Gt4 is under restoration, and I also have huge problems with my taillights. I have started making mold for casting the chromed body with ABS plastic, as they were originally done. I do not have the mold ready yet, and this will take atleast a year, but the proces is on. Previously, I have made small reproduction for V6 Dino 2.0 waterpumps. I sold those tools to Germany.

Few years ago, there were lenses available, but I think now there are not. I am meaning the large part, not the round small ones.

If I get the mold made with reasonable work and properly working, the price for these parts won't be the problem. Because the casting itself is not wery expensive. Maybe the biggest effect on price is the chroming, since there are not many companies, that can/are willing to chrome ABS.

There is a process to “plate” plastic parts with aluminum. Locally they call it vacuum metalizing. Simply put they electrically charge the plastic parts and put them in a vacuum chamber. Then aluminum particles with the opposite charge are sprayed into the chamber. When the parts come out you have a very nice “mirror” finish. It should be a pretty common process anywhere they make high volume automotive trim parts.

    Hello

Thanks for the tip. I did not know, that aluminium can be used on plastic.

I need to find a proper company to do the chromejob with reasonable price. I have once used company, that sprays real chrome finnish with somesort of plasmamethod in wery low temperature. That was not cheap! I want to stick with chrome, since that is the real thing.

At moment, I have made some skitches about the mold, and they need to be converted to 3D. After all is in digital, I can let the needed parts to cut from steel with laser. One problem is the shrinkage of plastic after casting. That must be taken to account to get the dimensions right at first time. Nobodey would like to have 5 mm too small lights, I think.

I post pics, once I have something to post. But as mentioned, this will take time, because I need to keep the costs reasonable. I'd say, that if the taill light body costs a 100 Euro each, there are many who wants to buy them. If they cost 500, just a few will be sold.

    I think 100€ is reasonable.
There is also a way of vapor-depositing a thin layer of silver on plastic, if I remember correctly. Anyone?

This is done in the opthalmic lens industry all the time. How many have seen mirrored sunglasses? It is a vacuum deposition process.
