david pipers backyardI love the "as-a-matter-of-fact" aura.
A glimpse of the cellar is here... http://forumducavallino.nuxit.net/Forum-du-Cavallino/forum_17.php?msg=74038
Nothing much has changed - David Piper raced in New Zealand during the early part of 1960. I was at three of the events and I am sure the green paint on his Lotus 16 was not much different from todays colour.
You heard wrong. The "locals" won't destroy anything (seriously...). The circuit doesn't meet the new European safety regulations. If PB wants to keep it open for car makers for tests or clubs, etc... Millions of Euros will have to be invested to make it open to public. The question is would it be worth it ? PB has also invested a lot in a new Rallye dirt track which meets the FIA regulations. The asphalt track is not a priority. A delay was asked to let enough time to finish the dirt track project before seeing what could be done on the asphalt track. But they are deadlines, limited funds and lawyers at work. Ah, and nothing to do with "socialists" either...
If this topic has already been visited I apologize. 1951 Carrera Panamerica, Ferrari 212 Export #34, Taruffi/Chinetti - 1st. There is a controvery about the secondary color of this car whether it is yellow or silver. It's sister car #9 was blue with silver. I am having a model built of #34, and the CG Modelli kit instructions specify red with yellow (example attached), and FDS, another kit manufacturer of the same car, agrees, so I was satisfied. The build is almost complete. Yesterday I found a series of posts on another forum that broke my heart. Please scroll down to the post by "huitimus" on 02-16-2011 and the subsequent replies: http://www.forum-auto.com/automobile-pratique/modelisme-modeles-reduits/sujet263-2800.htm Learned members, is there any chance that the artist's rendering and the BBR model shown in that thread are incorrect? A propos of Patrick Bardinon and Mas du Clos, some may recall that Patrick Bardinon was quite a handy Formula 3 pilot back in the late 1970s... what was his relation to PB? Image Unavailable, Please Login
Re post 6512. What publication are the 2 black and white photos from??? The lower one is one of my copyright photos and appears to have been used without permission(or payment)
I once read in the English Ferrari owners club magazine in the 1970s that Patrick held the lap record at Mas du Clos at a very young age?
The second photo is from the Racing Sports Cars site. http://www.racingsportscars.com/photo/Carrera_Panamericana-1951-11-25.html What do I need to do?
