Got my F430 a couple of months ago and use it as DD. Have done about 5000km so far with it and love it. I don't understand other owners don't use their car more.. Such a wonderful piece of magic :)

For me at least, I like that it's a special car I use whenever I can in good weather and on the weekend. I wouldn't want to commute in it or drive it in bad weather- it's a special treat for me and I drive it on good roads (often early in the morning on the weekend when traffic is light) vs. rushing to work, sitting in traffic, etc. All enjoyable miles where I can connect with the car and experience it vs. just using it as a commuter car- everyone has their own idea of what the proper usage is :)

I know several people who use them for daily use. A 430 is one of my buddies only cars, daily driver all the way. Some people I know drive the snot outta them.

I don't want to drive mine every day. I like that it's for when I'm in the mood for it. Every day would make it not so great. Plus I'd get tired of speed bumps, door dings and rock chips.

It's honestly not that comfortable to use as a DD IMO. I need a better stereo, more comfortable seats, AC that works, and most importantly, visibility. Ferraris are special and if I were to use mine everyday I think the lust wouldnt be the same. And the front bumper would most certainly not be the same.

I like to drive on the weekends, going out to dinner and for recreational purposes. I don't want or like to use it as my DD. I felt the same way when I had Porsches.

I drive whenever I want with no regard for increased mileage.

For people with families, specifically young children, it is not a practical DD.

I purposely bought a car with some miles for the sole intention of driving her! I take my 360 everywhere- even the grocery store since the trunk is bigger than my Carrera 4(damn front diff). I drive the F car at least 3 times a week! Of course, I upgraded the stereo, added some rims and a few other goodies to make it more enjoyable. Yes, I know you are supposed to listen to the engine....and real Ferraris don't have radios..... But then again this is a Ferrari that will sit in LA traffic. I could not be happier! What a fun car to drive

Got rid of the M Roaster and now I daily drive my Spider. Over the past few months I haven't regretted the choice, not even one time. You get better at handling driveways, speed bumps, etc. so it isn't too much trouble in that respect.

I think the choice depends on your commute, weather, and parking situation. I have a short ~10 mile commute and there is generally only 1 slow section so I am moving all of the time. We also have a parking garage so I have shade and it isn't too tight. Plus I get to work early so I get the end spot with plenty of room (no door dings yet).

Some have a problem driving their Fcar to work bcus of the possible negative impact on customers and fellow employees.

I would love to drive my 360 to work or just more often in general (I've owned it a year and only put 3k miles on it)

but the more I drive it, the less "special feel" I get when driving it

I just like to cruise it on special occasions or on the weekends if I have someone nice to go in it.

There are places that are not fun to drive it... like places with speed bumps... or stop-n-go traffic... or parking lots with grocery cars or overly skinny parking places... no option to park myself... etc. So, if any of those are your daily drive, I can't fault you.

HOWEVER, daily driving has never made my Ferrari feel less "special"... I have a hard time understanding that reasoning. Or not wanting to get it dirty or rock chips. Unless its a museum piece, put some clear film on it, and DRIVE it. Although its a work of art, it is not intended for just ONE of your senses (sight)... its intended for sight, SOUND, and FEEL. The more you feel it and hear it, the more you will enjoy it... even if that makes for some tiny compromises to your sight when looking up close.

    Just one man's opinion.

I am ever so grateful that the original owner of my 430 did 1780 miles in it in just 24 months.
This kept the odometer reading low for my advantage but he still lost the same money on resale whether he had much more mileage on it or not.

I'm driving it like it was supposed to be used, not mothballed.
    Rob.

Ditto. I picked up my '06 last year for $80k off sticker and only 3600 miles. I drive it every other day at least. Have to give my other car attention as well. I'll probably put 4-5k a year on it. Put 3k on my 360 which I owned less than a year just prior.

There is a 12 year old UK 465 for sale with 400 miles on the clock - what's the point??????

For me it's not about the mileage. It doesn't make sense for me to make the very short 3-mile/10 minute drive to the office, and then to let the Ferrari sit out in the parking lot and bake in the Florida sun for 8-10 hours. I have another (still very nice) vehicle that takes this abuse, and has already needed the roof and hood repainted due to the sun. If I had covered parking I might change my ways. And then there is the door dings from inconsiderate people.

Tesla Roadster, it even cuts down on noise pollution. But I prefer to hear my F430 symphony behind me any day.

I am with you on this one. The more I drive the car the more I enjoy it. I get more comfortable with the car and feel more and more of the nuance that it has to offer. You get much better at speed bumps, drive ways, etc. so they aren't big obstacles any longer.

People love to see the car and it makes them happy. It is definitely not less special. It is more enjoyed.

I take it on just about any date night, assuming it's a safe place.
I'll take it to grab coffee or groceries too....or if I'm out for thur happy hour. But could not and would not want to drive it daily...it would take the allure away for me personally
