Probably not THE Jimmy Page you're thinking of, but Jimmy Page from Boca Raton who owns other spectacular Ferraris as well as this one. Jack.
Amazing car. In one of the Dennis Adler references on Ferrari, he photographed the unique prototype Daytona Spyder, same or similar color, with the plexi front end. The fact that we couldn't import them that way is one of the bigger tragedies in legislation-over-design. (U.S. 308 bumpers are somewhere on that list as well.) Nice pic earlier of your 328 next to the F430 -- incredible how tiny the 328s really were compared to the modern stuff.
Here are a few pics I took at the event....The fist is a pic of Tom Williamson showing me the ropes on judging the Concours. The last is Toms glass 308 that ended up winning best in class. I had a blast and got to meet many wonderful people! Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Thanks. I was surprised at the compliments and comments on my dirty 328. i parked it on a side dirt road while i helped the FCA guys park cars. i was asked to join the display ( non judged group) which was a real honor. I have 2 offers to buy my 328 this weekend. if any of them come up with the promised amounts, the car is gone, and I will buy another, non red 3whatever8. I was really dumbfounded by how big all these new cars are. I look a very close look at the Maserati GranTurismo S that was on display at the entrance, as I still want a modern Maserati for fun. Geeze the cars are HUGE! The 458 is a stunning car in person, but its much bigger than a 308/328 as well. safer, and better performance, but i wish they would make a small, light car with 350 or less hp for the street. Had a wonderful time, met some really great people, and of course got to see some true Ferrari icons I will never be able to own, but can nonetheless enjoy . Hahaha! I was saying all week i thought it looked like Eddie too! I didn't dare ask it to play Eruption LOL
Thanks for all the pictures - great event - my wife and I really enjoyed it - thanks for all the people that worked so hard to make it happen
I don't know the full story but I know the owner well. The car resides in Asheville, NC and is owned by the same person who brought the green '64 330 GTC that won Platino. I believe he's had the race car for quite a long time and did indeed run it in the Carrera Panamericana. He brings it to most of our track events in the Southeast as well as quite a few annual meets. If you'd like more info I can put you in touch with him.
Thanks I just googled it up and found his story of running thru Mexico that was printed in Prancing Horse 142. Very cool that someone is using their old Ferrari like this, and showing it for us to enjoy rather than hiding it away.
Thanks go out to Bob, Marc, David, and the others that put on this wonderful event. Your group in the SE Region ranks amoung the best of the FCA.
It was our National Meet, for the FCA That yellow/black 308GTB was 'glass, Micheal?? It has a RH Pininfarina badge...... Edit: Ah, I see you mentioned it in a later post!!! LOL!
The 308 is a '76 fiberglass bodied car, original owner, immaculate, platino winner, best "3-series car" award. Same owner has the only factory-prepped (michelotto) 288 GTO as well as a 458. Original owner on all.
Ha-Ha. Good one. Great job on Savannah, Marc. Looking forward to Palm Springs and doing some "local" stuff in the upcoming months.
So many of you have posted great pics! Would those of you who have some consider uploading them to a central account in Photobucket? www.photobucket.com If youd like to check it out, the user name is fca_savannah_2011 and the password is savannah. Thanks! Marc
