Road trip to Ferrari Challenge at Laguna, May 20-22

    Hi Everyone:

    FYI, for those of you who want to avoid the 405 Freeway Sepulveda Pass (the section of the 405 from Sunset Blvd all the way up to the 101 Freeway junction) here is a good alternative:

    As you are heading North on the 405 and pass the Marina Freeway (90), get over to the right 2 lanes. These always move faster, at least in the afternoon.

    Continue on the 405 up to the 10 West and hop on the 10 West towards the Santa Monica pier. Continue on the 10 West and as it goes under the McClurg Tunnel it becomes PCH North.

    Continue on PCH North all the way through Malibu, past Neptunes Net, and into Ventura County. Get off PCH at the Las Posas exit, prior to the Point Mugu Naval Air Station.

    Make a right turn on Las Posas and follow that North all the way to the 101, then hop on the 101 North.

    This is a really beautiful drive and may work well for people who are coming up on Friday morning too.

    So if I'm reading this and the map correctly - there's currently no way to drive Hwy 1 from SLO to Monterey.

    I may just get up there quick - and catch Friday Practice then :)

    I just checked with the hotel and they do not have Speed TV as a channel selection. The F-1 race is on this weekend, do any of you know if there is any way to find out if there is a bar or some place that has Speed? I have called a few places with no luck so far. I know I can watch live timing on my computer but was hoping to catch it live.

    You might want to try the Ferrari guys at the track. They might have a satellite feed on the truck.

    That would be cool but I suspect they won't be watching live (yes I am that idiot that gets up at all hours of the night and makes noise, good thing I'm not married!). Maybe they will DVR it and I can catch it after seeing it on live timing on the confuser.

    If you are shooting at this event, it is a requirement that you take pictures of the two cars with StopTech BBKs on them: JC's 550 and my 355. Lot's of closeups please, with special attention to the visibility of the company logo. :)
