My del sol may be dead. Auto Transmission will only briefly stay in gear before free-revving with no power. AT will be $1000+ to replace. The car is only worth a bit more than that, so probably not worth fixing. If cleaning the solenoid and changing fluid (with Lucas Transmission Fix also) doesn't cure it, it may be time to put the old girl down...
I love the Honda S2000. I first owned an '01 followed by an '05 - daily drove and tracked both cars. Here are pics of the '05: Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Yes, that's a supercharger. It's the Comptech kit with air-to-water aftercooler. The centrifugal blower massively enhances the VTEC rush. The gain in peak power is about 80 rwhp, but acceleration actually feels a little weaker in the lower rpm range due to parasitic drag of the supercharger. The blower motor makes for much more of a Jekyll and Hyde experience.
I always wanted a 308 but when the time came to plunk down my hard earned cash I went with a brand new s2000 instead. Bought it new in 03 and still have and enjoy it. I guess that makes me a Honda guy. Still want to add a 308!
I can say I'm a honda guy, I'v worked on many Honda's and I own one. red Civic Si 2007 with 40K. Image Unavailable, Please Login
I've got a '07 Civic Si as well. 63k miles at this point. http://www.redpepperracing.com/gallery/d/167618-4/IMG_0118.JPG
Anybody sit in a CR-Z yet? I checked one out at auto show in AZ and the controls seemed really far away from the driver....Other than that it was pretty cool.
I'm an s2000 guy myself. Currently I have an 05 ap2 with an Amuse widebody on it. It's still a work in progress though, but should be finished by Spring if all goes well.
Not sure I'm still a Honda guy. The old del sol gave up, no big deal. It had served its purpose. Bought a 2009 CPO Accord Coupe in mid-November. Never really though about maintenance since it had been fully serviced by the dealer before I bought it and I hadn't driven it much. 2700 miles later (today) the oil pressure light comes on while idling. Check the dipstick, nothing. Take it to the dealer they say a qt per oil change interval is normal (1 qt/10,000 miles). Car holds 4.5 qts. Mine had 1 remaining in it! So 3.5 qts in 2700 miles? We are now going to monitor the oil usage to make sure it had been filled properly before I bought it. Muffler tip is sooty and black. Nice car but this could quickly end my ownership if they don't end up changing the engine. Cayman (what I really wanted) later this year perhaps?
Count me as a fan of Honda. Growing up, my dad had Hondas and never once had an issue with them. I just bought my first one in September 2009 (a Civic Coupe) and it's been great.
The S2000's shifter drops right into the Aisin transmission, and is rifle-bolt accurate (as good as it gets). The NSX has a cable-driven setup to the aft transaxle, but works surprisingly well at imparting a direct mechanical feel. Hope that helps, Brian
Thanks for the insight. I never really thought about the s2k set-up before. I have something to ponder.
