$79 each !! Good grief, that is a simply ridiculous price for a rubber grommet. I can live without these at this price.

    Thanks anyway omgjon

I just called, and....they are hand made!

I will start looking into this issue locally in the Third World, and see what we can come up with. Will keep you posted. If anyone has dimensions of the O.D. or a sample, that would be great.

    Regards, Alberto

Hand made to me means that they do the following and charge as much as a brain surgeon for the labor:

    1. Go to McMaster Carr and buy a rubber grommet of the appropriate size:

http://www.mcmaster.com/#push-in-grommets/=a91rtg Click on the push in grommets photo if you are not taken to it.

(sorry but I do not have a car handy to measure the exact size)

    2. Take a sharp utility knife and slice the grommets in half.

Each grommet will yeild 2 pcs which should bring you in to about 75 cents per grommet or a 100 times savings :)

Just as a tip, a drop or two of super glue will hold these well in place. This glue works excellent on rubber. Also do not for a second think that this is a second best half-a$$ solution. If you choose the grommet correctly, it will be dead on perfect.

Bill Rudd's son (can't remember his name) gave me some he made playing around casting a rubber-like compound while at T Rutands years ago. I didn't think much of it at the time but when I finally put them on the car they were fantastic. Tight fit, proper look and seemed very durable. May have been a polyurethane product or similar. Search Google/Youtube for casting plastic, rubber and maybe urethanes. The casting process seemed pretty easy and there are various compound for different levels of hardness.

I`m not 100% sure but as far as I know the bumper grommets have only been on the twin tube bumper mounting for US-models. I haven`t seen them on european Dinos. Simon, the bumper mountings on your car are not original. You need to have a one tube mounting only.
    Regards Matthias

Matthias, my car is original as it has single tube per side front and back. The pictures posted are from omgjon's car not mine. I don't have these grommets but it seems that maybe the euro cars never had them anyway.

I am really amazed that the Dino is so badly documented on what is and what is not right. On my Boxer, and even my 400, the details are so well documented it is unbelievable. I would have thought that with the number of enthusiastic Dino owners the details would be pretty much tied down by now. Why do you think this is? Maybe as it was a 'cheaper' Ferrari when new the owners made many individual changes and these are now hard to tell between factory spec or owner mods. I find this very strange, I must say.

I checked and found them only on my rear bumpers, are they supposed to be on the front as well?

You know, I vaguely remember someone buying a bag of 100 of those grommets, using some on his car and offering to give away the other 96 to folks that wanted them. Anyone remember?

I took some soft rubber black tubing, approximately 3/8 inch diameter. Used a razor blade and slit it longitudinally. Mounted it with the open side on the chassis, and it worked perfectly.
