My vote is for Ivory, and keep the Dino badges.
Wow -- $6K for a running/driving GT4!?!? That beats my buy of last year on mine by a healthy amount. Looks like yours has a little more rust, though. (Not that it matters, since you're obviously fixing all of it right now.) Thanks for taking on the project and saving a GT4! Whatever choice you make on the color will be fine. Yellow, Red and Black tend to be the most coveted, but a good car will always sell, period.
Chartreuse! Yikes! With both badges no less! I saw a hideously painted two-tone GT4 in Redondo Beach a few years ago that had (old style - i.e., "large") metalic-flaked-flourecent puple and pearlescent white, with hot pink trim. <shudder!> It looked like a true "pimp-mobile". LOL!
I remember that San Jose car when it was for sale. Good to see it's being brought back to life! But that looks like a fairly substantial project. Can you really rebuild it and flip it for a profit, even with the $6K purchase price??? How does that roughly pencil out?
Yes, but it looks GREAT on this particular car! Which also just happens to look an awful lot like a GT4 sans the back seat! Image Unavailable, Please Login
Stratos  !!! In my favorite color combo. I actually put out some feelers looking for a Stratos lately, but determined a) the prices for the ones available are way out of the reasonable market ballpark and b)I'm way too tall to fit -- period. That's the first I've seen in the Verde of the GT4. I've seen one GTB in that color. Of course, this is an example of where rare doesn't equate to valuable.
My GT4 with a dark blue interior started life as silver and was later painted white. Too bad our POs couldn't have just done a car swap!
Agreed. With regard to the original question, usually I'd say go with the original color, but if you bought it for $6000 and the intent is to paint it and flip it, you'll probably sell it faster in one of the darker blues, as those are popular right now.
Well... I'm not totally keen (am I dating myself by using that term? ) on wire either, although, I do think they look nice on a black car. What I really like though are the knock-offs. And I think there are few who would disagree with me if I said, "BB rims on a GT4 would look dynamite"
this thread makes interesting reading as I've been considering some of the same things with my own gt4 project .. I've opted to paint mine back to its original colour of viola metalizzato, and fit some 15" compomotive split rims .. (not my car in the pic, its been photoshopped) Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Ivory is awesome on the GT4...I almost bought a Mondial in white myself...personally, I like the white interior best and, if interested, upgrading to Mondial convex wheels painted white would finish nicely.
+1 There's a lot to be said for turning them all back to the color they came with.....also agree on the Dino badging.
My gt4 was an original Avorio car , I have owned for 10 yrs. Had body and paint 10 yrs ago but I painted it argento metelezato (silver). I was not sure how long i could afford it at the time ,so was thinking that the silver would be easier to sell. 1975 09966
