Hi, can anyone help me with a description & picture of the paint finish on a 275GTS airbox, I have seen some with a mild crinkle finish and others with the smooth satin black finish.
Thanks you for you help as always.

    Hi Mark
Just as a guide, the air box on the 365 gtc, which i think was made in 68 had crackle finish, i am 99% sure this is correct, as it was taken off when the car was crashed when nearly new. Could be different on a 275!

Mark, to the best of my knowledge most of the air cleaner assemblies are painted satin black.

Mark, The finish on my 330 GTC airbox should be satin.....it is too glossy right now. Easy fix. While at the shop I looked at a 275 GTS. It has a satin finish on the air box.

An FCA judge that has helped me with my GTC says satin finish. He gave me a 4 page listing of finishes for various components on the GTC. He is a proven expert having rebuilt one of the nicest GTCs on the planet.

This came off the 365 GTC car i was talking about, as i said it was crashed when almost new registered in built in 68 judging by the write on some of the parts, registered in the UK in 1970 and crashed in the early 70's [ so i was told], and dismantled, this was not stored well as you can see, under a tarp, it did not have chance to be messed around with and has obviously not been repainted.
The close up is of one of the tubes where there is still paint left.
    Hope this helps

Thanks Grant. Just not sure if it is the same airbox as on the 275GTS, the one we have does not have the breather tubes down to the manifold heat sheilds.

Note i am taking about a 275GTS here, not my usual money pit the 275GTB.

    cheers
    Mark

Have you compared this list to Kerry's 330 list of Plating & finishes? (I can't seem to get it to link directly sorry). We would love it if you would share.

    Cheers, JB

Sorry guys, we are going a little off track here - back to the original reason i opened the thread......

I am trying to establish the paint finish on a 275GTS airbox (not a 330 or any other model).
I have seen some with a mild crinkle finish and others with the smooth satin black finish.

Does anyone have a definitive answer or can we establish a consensus view?

Thank you for your help as always.

I have one and am certain the finish is satin black. I personally like to powder coat most parts that are satin black.
The trick is in replating the center section. I can't remember whether it is chrome or nickel. you have strip the air claener, re-plate it, then paint the black sections.
    Something like this.

The finish on my 275GTS - which I am sure is original - is satin black.

I understand that you are looking for 275GTS finishes but the 330 GTC was produced at practically the same time and the correct finish for that model is satin black, and I'm pretty sure it's the same for the 275GTS. I'm not near my Keith Bluemel book - will look it up when I get back home this weekend if you haven't been answered to your satisfaction by that point.
