Saw this yellow 458 at our local dealer today.............. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Yellow seems to have a special appeal on the 458! Nice sneak peek there... Tarek did you ever get the (transmission?) issue sorted out on your 430? CH
Unfortunately not yet. The car has been at the dealer for almost 3 weeks now for all sorts of tests and they called me two days ago saying the car has been fixed after they got a special tool from Italy to adjust the tolerances on the F1 actuator which were out of tolerance by 1mm on my F430. I went there today to take delivery of the car and took it for a test drive with the service engineer. The car performed very well and went through the gears very smoothly and didn't shift into neutral whenever I slowed down. After almost 20 minutes of hard driving and high speeds I entered the dealership, shifted into neutral and the car would not go into reverse or even accept 1st gear until it cooled down a little. I think now they have decided to order a complete F1 kit.
Thanks for the update Tarek! Sorry to hear there are still unresolved issues with the car. Let us know how it works out; others may be stuck in the future and your experiences may help smooth troubled waters... CH
Yellow is THE color for this car. ...and speaking of, does anyone know what the special yellow that is in the video is called? ...and I don't see it offered on the website?
Is that 3 layer stuff hard to repair? Is sure looks like it. I'd be scared to order something like this if I was planning on really driving it.

Interested in this question I asked the San Diego dealer about repair of three-layer paints. He said that it is mostly a matter of surface prep for the successive coats. He rattled off three local body shops that he said could do it, one of which I had experience with on a regular respray and is very good. I would not take this as definitive and would like to see more data, perhaps from people who have actually had it done on a 3-layer.
I had a panel done on a Lambo. It took me a while to find a painter brave enough to tackle it. He did a pretty good job but the pearl coat looked different to the panel next to it. It isn't a problem if you do adjoining panels at the same time but insurers might have something to say about that.
