    Hi guys.

I will be in San Jose from 11/11 to 11/15 for a conference. I have never been to the area, so any suggestions on things to see/do is appreciated. Are there any car events going on this weekend? I am hoping to make it to Santana Row on Sat. Can someone give me an address so I can get directions?

    Thanks,
    Alex

SR usually gets rolling around 10am or so.

See this thread for a map. Intersection of Winchester and Steven's Creek in the city of Santa Clara. Also bounded by the 280 and 880/17 freeways.

As for things to do, what do you usually like to do? Drives? Dining? See the coast?

    Thanks for the link.

I have never been to the west coast before so I would like to see the coast. Aside from that I am open to anything. A drive sounds great, except for the fact that I will be in a crappy rental car.

Not sure how much time you have during daylight hours, but it's a pretty drive over highway 92 to Half Moon Bay, then down highway 1 to Monterey/Carmel. If time is short, go south on highway 17 to Santa Cruz, then Monterey/Carmel. Stroll town and beach in Carmel. There are a ton of variations to get there and back. Depends if your priority is the drive or destination.

Baja Cantina in Carmel Valley is usually a rocking good time, but you'll want to sleep nearby. ;)

San Francisco is the place for nightlife. It's entirely different from San Jose. More choices, more sophisticated, totally different vibe. Worth sampling why it's famous.

If you want a coastal drive that takes you north, I would head for the Timber Cove Inn, a bit north of the town of Jenner. On the way, be sure to try the oyster shacks along Bodega Bay. Very rustic and wild. From there you can cut back inland for wine tasting in Sonoma. Sonoma is also known for organic farms and cheese production if that floats your boat.

I'm sure the others will have more specific places and things to do. I'm just trying to give a sense of place with these routes.
