not sure if i am late to the discussion but,

Hugo Boss suits are generally under-rated when compared to the italian brands.
Otherwise Armani suits have to be the best for formal events in my opinion.
Dolce&Gabbana suits are better for less formal events, such as a simple night out.

Brioni...Dior Homme...Dolce Gabbana...Yves Saint Laurant...Giorgio Armani (Armani Collezioni, Black Label, or Emporio Armani lines...)

Tom Ford has great suits but good luck finding anything under 2k...

With all the labels besides Tom Ford
I have seen their suits on sale for under 2000...

If you want the suit for business
    Brioni...also Kiton is great...
    or Armani Collezioni
    are prob your best bets

If your looking for a suit to wear to parties
go with Dior...Dolce...Yves...Armani Black label or Emporio Armani...Botegga Veneta...Dsquared...Gucci...
alot more but I like these brands best...good luck:)

    Kiton and Brioni.

    Both are expensive.

If you want to pay 1/3rd of Kiton, try Armani material. It is good wool and looks great.

While they are expensive, I know my custom suits with my eyes closed. They are fantastic.

Corneliani. Really great suits but still off the radar as they don't spend the advertising dollars that Armani and Zegna spend.

yup, corneliani makes a great daily/business suit.
zegna are great as they offer a myriad of materials and also have customized line at a fraction of a real bespoke suit.

all out assault would certainly be kiton and brioni.

Whatever you do, don't buy your Italian suits in the United States.

Agree with intouch1, Zegna Su Misura and Kiton all the way.

I'd also like to add Belvest, Cesare Attolini, Luigi Borrelli and Enrico Isaia. Canali makes nice affordable suits and according to my guy here in Kuwait he says they can do made to measure aswell.

What about buying an Armani suit at an Armani boutique (in the U.S.)?

Armani suits are considered crap in Italy... their couture line is decent.

Canali and Corneleoni have couture lines are good suits for the price (if you don't want to spend the money for Brioni level suits). Zegna is known for their fabrics and not their suits. I think that they are overpriced and made for small round old guys.

It's lower down the line than some, but I have a terrific Burberry suit. It's a staple suit (navy), but I like the cut and the price was right.

Luigi Borelli would be another fine suit without breaking the bank. I do wonder what you could get a Kiton for in Italy.

Never have, but for some reason, I've always found it appealing.
