Will the Spider get a folding roof like the California? What is the weight difference between steel and cloth design? CH
I think you misunderstand the OP. The Spider has not been released yet and there is no info on it. He just wants to see a photoshopped version to get an idea.
Guys I'm so excited about the 2060 Ferrari spaceshuttle can't wait !! (just kidding ) The coupé isn't even out yet, a little too soon for the spider thread no?
Indeed they are. I just heard from my reputable official real genuine Ferrari dealer that the concept photos will be released on April 1st, 2010.
Im betting some one in the Asian region will be chiming in soon claiming to already have a deposit on this amazing vehicle!
Hey stack...this what you want? Posted it there, but to save your poor fingie from a mouse click: jonsibal.com / Ferrari 458 Italia Spyder Artists Rendering http://www.worldcarfans.com/10907282...-italia-spyder Image Unavailable, Please Login
That looks really nice. It really exagerates the curves nicely and gets rid of of the 458's weakest design cue, the side rear window. I can't imagine a hardtop convertible with this big midengine. A 202 mph convertible is insane.
I'm not privy to any details about the upcoming Spider but if I had to guess, I'd be 95% sure that Ferrari won't equip the convertible version of the 458 with a folding hardtop. Not only does the mid-ship placement of the engine not allow enough space for it to retract, the Italia already looks like it will steal sales from the California-- fitting it with a hard-top would cannibalize it. I'd put money on seeing a soft-top.
Makes sense when considering the roof design. Somehow I don't think there's room for a foldable roof (either fabric or metal). But what about a targa top?
Really? Considering the overwhelming success of the F430 Spider (60% of total production I think?) and competition in the form of the LP560-4 and R8, I think this would be a bad move. Ferrari really want to leave this market?
+1 : feeling there will always be a two-seater Spider of sorts for a long time....expecting even the 599 to have something similar soon....stay tuned.
completely ridiculous statement to make, this is the first we have seen of the car and to say that ferrari would shut themselves out of this market is a bold and unreasonable statement to make. the california cannot offer the performance that ferrari are claiming the 458 can achieve so that cannot be the replacement spider for the whole range. its only logical that there would be a 458 in spider form.
