Ok. So I have seen multiple magazine articles with performance numbers on the 560-4. Some of them have amazingly impressive performance numbers. How much lighter is the 560-4 over the 2008 Gallardo? It's almost 1 second quicker from 0-60 and over 1.5 seconds quicker in the 1/4 mile. What was more surprising is how much more impressive the numbers looked when compared to the Superleggera and the LP640 Murcis. Not sure if it makes sense or not, but it appears much quicker than both of these based on the articles and the Superleggera does not give up much hp or weight to it. Why such a big difference? Am I missing something???

The 560 isn't that much lighter than a regular '08 (and it is heavier than a Superleggera), but it has a direct injection engine with more torque and ~40 more HP (and revs a little higher). That engine seems to have some serious get up and go...

I've driven both, the 560 is way better, it's weird because the interior looks the same. the transmission is the big change it crushes the old one and the F1 box on the 430.

the gear box in the 560 doesn't "crush" the 430's f1, especially not the scuds..

? I don't know why you say the gearbox crushes the F430. In what way? The LP560-4 has "improved" since the 06 line but I would not go as far as to say the gearbox is better than the F430. The F430's still seems smoother. I've driven them back to back but not side by side so maybe that's the improvement I can't see.

Anyway, yes the new engine in the 560 made a huge difference in the speed. I personally am not a fan though b/c it has lost a substantial amount of rawness that had been attributed to Lamborghinis. The e-gear is too smooth and the cabin noise is almost completely gone... including the sound from the exhaust. I think the only thing I liked about it was the suspension.

I knew I was going to get dragged into this and have to answer LOL LOL

First, I have never been an e-gear or f-1 fan, 6 speed for me all the way. I also have never had the G car as my first love, the V-12 LP or Diablo for me. I have owned every G Model made since 2004, coupe, spyder, nera, 6 speed, e-gear etc etc..none have them have ever made me want to get out of my Diablos or Lp640.

    UNTIL now!

Last week I took in a 2009 LP560-4, E-gear with Sport package in on trade. Today was the first day I took it out, for about 40 miles. I was impressed from the minute I took off. The exhaust note is amazing, the brakes STOP YOU, the shift is quiet, smooth and FAST. The power is..will I think it is faster 0-100 then my LP640..Then I put it in to Corssa mode..A Whole new car...the SNAP of the e-gear was neck cracking, the exhaust at open up was as if I was on the Gran Prix track..and blistering fast while still planted to the ground like super glue!! I can only imagin what this will be like after it gets 5000 miles on it and is truly loosened up and broken in.

I think Lambo made a tre WINNER here, looks, performance, options and 3 year 36K mile warranty, not to mention the CUP Holder!! LOL

For sure a car to look at if you are thinking of a new toy...and now for my advertoising plug...I have the lowest price LP560-4 on the market in the USA today!!

this was not my experience at all, the 09 is louder than the 06 (back to back drives), and a different note.

the 560 transmission is the only "F1" style gearbox that from a dead stop you can simply mash down the gas and go...like an automatic, without blowing up your clutch. if i did that in the 430 my clutch would be toast, hence my opinion. frankly i'm surprised that there is a counterpoint to this, to me it was obvious from the get go.

Are you talking about launch control? ...I have an F430F1 and while I have not dumped the clutch on it before...I do not see why you couldn't.

...Anyway this new Gallardo is awesome. I am looking at trading in my '05 DB9 and '05 Gallardo for a new 560...only about $8k away from where I want to be.

if you mash the gas pedal on a 430 you'll smell the clutch frying...same on the 355 F1 and 360 and Gallardo and Murci, the lone exception is the 560 (I have not driven the Scud). if you think i'm mistaken, give it a whirl.

I certainly believe you but I also think these car are designed to be used in that way. I drove a new 997 C2S the other day and tried the launch control and that definitely gave off a burning clutch smell.

you have to be an idiot to think that no clutch would ever burn, all clutches burn no matter what, don't be so short minded

The 560-4 is the best car Audi has ever produced. It's a genuinely awesome bit of engineering, and one that should make every Audi engineer very very proud...but it's an Audi that's overpriced by $100k.

Resale values are lining up with this notion.

Lambo is nothing more than an overpriced brand. The Gallardo's DNA was born and raised in Ingolsdtadt...Lambo is as Italian now as my BMW.

Sad, and really funny at the same time.

HP isn't the only thing, the 560 will beat an LP 640 to about 30 or 40 MPH.

so? I have both, they're both great cars. if i had a KIA that was faster/handled better etc...that would not invalidate it's performance just because it was from Japan. I prefer my Ferrari...by a little. but to say that the gearbox is better in the Ferrari (than the 560) is just blind faith (give credit to Ferrari marketing).

Correct, and if broke in and tuned correctly...will take a Lp-640...as much as I hate to admit it.

Could not have said it better, who cares where it was made or what badge it has, if it works and youlike, that is all that matters.

I am so tired of the "Blind Faith" of so called Ferrari is "best"...yes they are the "Best" at hype and marketing along with customer brain washing.

Well I do not think it is marketing, I think it is just hype...not sure I have ever seen a Ferrari ad...but I understand what you are saying. It is much like Apple computer users...they just drink the marketing kool-aid and with out thought or proof will defend to the death that an Apple is better than a PC simply because it is an Apple.

I will say though that the F430>Gallardo in terms of an excitement factor...once you get into the bigger Ferraris the "magic" starts to disappear.

I can't agree, having owned both - I put a few thousand miles on the 430, had it on the twisties in NorCal for many of those miles, and took it to Thunderhill and got a chance to really wail on it. Haven't had the Gallardo on the track, but I have been on the twisties, an entrance and exit ramp or two, and there is no question it is every bit as exciting. It's just completely different, but man it can rock and roll. Sounds better too, IMHO.

I still loved the Ferrari, and it definitely had its advantages, but the Gallardo has its advantages too, and they are both terrific cars.

I won't touch the Apple/PC comment with a ten foot pole, with respect to this thread which doesn't need further derailment...

Well I have not driven the new LP-560-4 but I have the old Gallardo and a F430...they both sound great (I will certainly concede that the Lambo is better looking) but I think what I mainly like about the Ferrari to be honest is the interior...the Gallardos interior is very Audi...the Ferrari has a more handmade feel and I love the smell of the leather...I am not sure if it is Connolly Hides or not but it smells just like the inside of the Rolls my grandpa had when I was a kid.
