Looking to start up a website for a business I'm starting and was wondering what some good hosting/building sites are. I was thinking GoDaddy, but if anyone has any other suggestions please let me know. It needs to be something I can build myself, Mac compatible, 10+ pages, email, and have the ability to promote via Google etc.
EDIT: I've heard that JustHost and BlueHost are both good, and feedback on these two?

Is it going to be informational or e-commerce?

Informational at first, with a paypal payment system. Will probably move up to a full scale ecommerce system in a year or so when/if things take off.

I've worked as a semi-professional web designer for a couple of years. If you do not know what you are doing in terms of building web sites, keep from it. Have a professional do it for you. In the end it does pay off. Of course, depending on the scale of your business this is varyingly important.

BTW. design is done in photoshop, not with go-daddy ;)

    Good luck!

I would spend $2000 and go with Intuit. You will purchase QB Point of Sale Pro which contains all your web store management. QB will design your site and you add content through QBPro. You will have full integration with shippers, inventory and QB features. One click prints a pick list, invoices and shipping labels.

Haha that's a little out of my price range to start (but I'll keep that name in mind if I ever get to the point where I need a more sophisticated site), looking for something I can build myself from a template (like most hosting sites offer). I already designed all of my logo's etc. already in vector AI so I just need a template to put them in and a simple 10ish page site to show off my products. I don't know web programming so I'm going to stick with this route (want to have full control of everything at first) until I have positive cashflow then look toward a professional site. Thanks for the feedback and keep it coming! If anyone has experience with these types of sites please feel free to chime in!

My wife, with no web experience, set up a very basic e-commerce site though GoDaddy's Website Tonight. It has a simple shopping cart with processing options. It isn't so much design as it is fill in a template box with text and a background color choice. You can add images and a bit of flare, but I wouldn't insult an actual designer by calling it design.

As far as ad campaigns, you may want to do that yourself. The major engines make it really easy to put them together.

Edit: These basic sites do best with a JPEG image. I'm not sure what Vector AI is, but I suspect the products you are looking at can't handle that type of image.

Vector is a type of file format and Ai is Adobe Illustrator-all the designs can easily be converted to a .jpg so that is not an issue. Those two sites I mentioned seem to be highly rated and both offer similar packages to GoDaddy but are cheaper. If I don't find any other suggestions I think I'll just play around for a month or two with one of those sites and see how it goes then make a decision.

Cheaper isn't necessarily what you want to look for in a hosting company. Reliability, response to problems, uptime, etc would be higher on the list than bottom dollar.

Yes, but these two are rated as the top sites for building your own site as well. Both have a 99.9% uptime guarantee as well.
