Well, from this car I am not getting sick.....Once I was in for a TdF with about the same configuration. Original chassis, new body and wrong engine (Boano). The body of the TdF was very wrong. But this SWB looks very good and I think a 1.6-1.8 kkeuro is pretty realistic. We will see.
IMO these kind of threads are quite different from the "how deep will they sink" threads......

The Bugatti T57 for 166k seemed a good buy. Gorgeous car.

Talbot Lago T26 (lot 133) for just E 104k versus E 130-180k presale estimate. Compare with the one Hyman Ltd has been trying to sell for US$ 325k (admittedly a perfect Adatto restoration). Wish I'd bid. Beautiful car with great character, although the Wilson pre-select box is a bit dull.

The 275 GTS needs full restoration so the car will be about 400k E at the end.

I´ve been at the auction until Black Bess which sold for 2.2M Eur. + com.
The place was so crowded, cold, no bar, no place to seat... etc, that we decided to go for something more exciting, a magret de canard!

I´m sorry about not posting news on the auction but the place was terrible.
I had my catalogue but there was no place to go with it.

    Regards.
    Cris.-

Prices are now up on Bonham's website. The Howe Bugatti T57S went for 3,417,500 Euros. The T18 "Black Bess" went for 2,427,500 Euros. The SWB was a no sale.

I was there too, no place to seat (and I was registred as bidder), and very very cold. I was there until the 250 PF coupé.

As french people say: Bonhams "peut mieux faire"...

    Best,

    Andrea

PS: The best car I saw were Consten's "Giallo Fly" Daytona and the wonderful Duesy!

$423K for the 275 GTS is good money since $250K more need to go into it to make is a fresh car again. Better 275 GTS' has been trading for about $600K recently, so no surprise there..

32k E/ 41KUS is strong money for a Maserati Indy even last year and this was just a 4.7.

Anyone have the Artcuriel results, please ?

Still remember the sound of that Matra from '69 at Watkins - incredible. The video on the Artcuriel website gives a little taste.

And what is a ragged royal 212 worth these days ?

    Thanks.

I will second the comments on the auction! I felt it was basically a shambles and they eventually took down the barriers so that anyone could be in there. I was glad there was not a fire or any problem like that... we left after the Black Bess lot as we were so disappointed with the way it was run. Surely Bonhams would have been better off either leaving the cars up in the show area, or having them all laid out on level 1 for the show and charging the catalogue admission (50 Euros!) there. I felt we got bad value and am not keen to go back to a Bonhams auction soon.

The show was very good and some of the displays were excellent. The venue is OK, it has good cafe etc facilities, but the toilets are hard to find and most of them seemed to be barricaded off! I was surprised at some of the prices dealers are asking for cars still, but I guess it depends if they sell or not. We won't go back to Retromobile next year, but maybe the year after. I feel that Techno Classica at Essen is a better show for Club displays, but I have not been there for a long time. We will find out next year!

HI Pieter for that money you could buy the 365 Daytona PLUS the 250GT PF coupe from the same auktion plus some cash. incredable.
A lot of ferrari owners are mainly interested in older Fedrraris as an investment.
THe DS cabrio is the highest climber in the last 5 years of All Classic cars worldwide
Such a car was available for 5 year for approx 35K euro.
Here such a car from behind next to the real thing- Kroymans -GTO

No question that rarity is a big factor in this case.

Bonhams auction was a 3 car sale -2 Bugatti's and the Citroen.

As previously suggested, they would have been much better utilising the basement of the exhibition hall exclusively for the auction....poor seating area, very cold, no refreshments, no ramp etc etc..auction was a success, but not condusive to selling.

The auctioneer could have been selling watches, faberge eggs or wine...not what you need when selling a specialist product.

Elsewhere - excellent displays by Lukas Huni of Geneva and Hall and Hall from Bourne UK.

Ch#16363 Comp Daytona was displayed on RM Auctions stand for their forthcoming Maranello sale.

Charles Pozzi demonstrated a mid rebuild Ferrari Dino.
