Very nice selection. I'm curious if there are any collectors that have all 10 you listed. I wouldn't be surprised if there are 3+ people out there with those.

I don't know if I am necessarily shooting for ten but more like 6. This is my list though... 1 DeTomaso Pantera GT5S 2 DeTomaso Mangusta Twin headlight version 3 Lamborghini Countach 4 DeLorean DMC 12 5 Ferrari 355 Spyder 6 Maserati Bora 7 Camaro IROC-Z 8 Buick GN or GNX 9 Ferrari 308 10 1970 Plymouth Barracuda This is my dream garage, not over the top but I'd be in heaven
That was a hard choice for me. I had the 250 LM on my list before deciding to swap it with a 6-speed converted Enzo. I love the Lusso so I wasn't going to leave that off the list. I'm surprised you didn't put a Bentley Speed 8 on your list...can't fit in it? If I went with all race cars: 1) McLaren F1 GTR shorttail (FINA) 2) McLaren F1 GTR longtail (FINA) 3) Bentley Speed 8 4) Porsche 917K (Gulf) 5) Porsche 956L (Rothmans) 6) F50 GT 7) F40 LM 8) 250 GTO 9) Ford GT40 (Gulf) 10) Mercedes Sauber C11
I've decided to just focus on Ferraris as far as cars for the garage go. 10 would be nice, but I still don't think I drive the three I already have enough as it is.
The short answer: 1. E39 M5 1.5. Fighter 2. F430 Spider 3. Eagle-rebuilt Series I 4.2 E-Type 4. Defender 5. Caterham R500 6. Audi A2 7. S420CDI long wheel base 8. F1 8b. Veyron and the cars you give up to allow 1.5 and 8b: 9. 600 Grosser or maybe current Phantom 10. Alfa Carabo, or W125 Rekordwagen The long answer: Some of the lists are practical but alot of these posters seem to dream about lifestyles where they never double-date, never have kids, never buy a cool old piece of furniture, never have a destination they have to park at. Most importantly, never forget which stalk is the turn-signal or get tired of "clutch-foot" in an auto/F1. I've currently got an LHD manual (430 Spider), RHD manual (M5) and RHD auto (GT-R) (just selling), and while I like to change between them I also get sad when I can't figure out how to open the F430 windows or when I turn on the widshield wipers in the GT-R every time I pull out of my drive. In short, changing cars is actually work. I don't think you want to change any more than you have to. I think you need to figure out tasks you do with cars, then pick the best car for each task. I think I have categories that should cover many readers here, though the specific choices would surely differ. 1. Daily Driver. Has to be able to drive and park in your town/country/continent, all weathers, able to take sudden change of plan in stride. It should be able to stand in for any other car here in a pinch. 1.5. In-betweener: you're confident you don't need the flexibility of the Daily Driver, but need more than the Sensory Input Car. Could be an R8 or a Carerra S, but why not live a little? 2. Sensory Input Car: when you can practically guarantee you're going out 1- or 2- up, coming back the same way, the drive is less than 6 hours, the trip is less than 3 days, and its not going to start snowing. An important point is that the car and the drive are possibly more important to you than your passenger. For me it needs to be a convertible, a manual, mid-engined, and sound great. 3. Romantic Car: The mood is more important the sensory input and your passenger is likely more important than the car. I need a Series I 4.2 E-type from http://www.eaglegb.com . Other acceptable answers would be a Gullwing, Pagoda, 3.0CS but with the caveat that there's nothing romantic about needing a tow or having an accident from bad brakes... so whatever it is needs the "Eagle E-Type"-type modernization program. This could even be a 2000GT, or your 250SWB or Dino, or anything up to a Z8. Or down to a 2CV. 4. Utility Car: Needs to be old and beat-up because not worrying about further damage is part of the fun. should seat 6 and be able to shift a wardrobe. 4WD. Never wash it. 5. Track Car: Maybe its a Caterham R500 or an Ariel Supercharged Atom or maybe a fat Elise or Radical. Maybe its an Ultima GTR or even an old F3 car. I'm curious--once you've tried all of these, do you really want to have one of each? Or will you just pick a fave and stay with it? Would you pick a car that wasn't the fastest? This isn't a romantic choice, you can crash it or trade it in on the next car with no remorse. 6. Village Car: my dream garage is attached to my dream villa, seperated from a lakeside alpine village by a kilometer of very narrow switchbacks. Milk-run, school-run, picking friends up at the train station, a narrow car with excellent visibility can get up and down that hill faster than an Enzo. Due to lots of short trips this car is actually very important. If its not an A2 (and if not why not), its a MB A-class or B-class or may even be a Japanese one-box car or a Kangoo. 7. Highway Car: You're travelling 3-4 up either to/from the city, to/from the airport, or shooting up to Berlin or over to Paris. You want a long wheelbase for autobahn stability and diesel for cruising range. 8. Hypercar: you actually drive it now and then just to be reminded of where the goalposts really are for street cars. Whats the point of a mere supercar? Why take a CGT or an Enzo onto the track if your cheap Radical can kick its butt, not to mention the F3? Why drive them in town or country roads given these other cars? 9. Limosine: In this dream do I have enough money that someone else has to drive me around? If so do I want a Toyota Century or the Phantom? Or an S? Or an A8L? Or a 600 Grosser? Or an 300SEL 6.3? a Kennedy-era Continental? I've never ridden in a 600 Grosser but I'm guessing thats the dream car to be ferried around in. You haven't REALLY arrived until you have people thinking that maybe Idi Amin has just arrived. 10: Museum Car: In my dream there's a car museum nearby. I don't need to go downstairs once a week and look at a Miura who never leaves the garage. Of that list, cars 8, 9, and 10 are really optional. (You certainly need the other 7 though.) Also there are two obvious hypercars to go for, and there is daylight showing in the gap between 1 and 2.
I'm reviving an old thread. My dream garage has changed slightly. Old: 1: Zonda 760 special. Cinque paint scheme in blue, black wheels, RS wing and manual 2: Ferrari F40, LM style front minus the vent, LM rear wing, NEEZ or Enkei wheels 3: Ferrari F50. Nero or Rosso, J wolf exhaust, Speedline wheels in black 4: Ferrari 550 ''Challenge Stradale'' more aggressive aero, reworked engine to 600+bhp and 6-1 exhaust manifold to get the GTO like sound 5: LP670 SV. Manual and reiter exhaust. Blue, black or white. 6: Carrera GT, black, black wheels. Awe exhaust 7: Ferrari 599 GTO. Black with red alcantara interior + black accents. Italia stripe (16m style), black novitec lights 8: Ferrari Challenge Stradale. Rosso Scuderia, Scuderia gearbox pump/software 9: Ferrari Speciale. Giallo tripo strato. Black wheels, black alcantara with yellow stitching and seat inserts. Black novitec lights 10: Ferrari F12b, grigio ferro Doubt the home garage would be used for race cars, if so the last 2 would make way for the following: 458 GT3 for racing in blancpain/dutch supercar challenge/24h series Any 2000s V10 F1 car for BOSSGP antics.
I don't need 10, just a great vehicle to cover every basic category and emotion: 1. Sportscar...Ferrari 458 Italia 2. Trackcar...Ariel Atom 3. DD...RR Ghost 4. Performance GT...Ferrari F12 5. GT 2+2...Maserati GTS 6. General Use, odd jobs/utility...Ford F150 King Ranch/Dodge Ram 1500 (bring Atom to the track) 7. Convertible, for leisurely sunny day with wife...Bentley Cont. GTC (I have 3 of the 7... ...next will likely be the Truck)
I would suggest a combination of classics, great drivers cars through the decades and a couple of modern supercars. Classics: 1. Ferrari 250 TdF, closed headlight 2. Ferrari 275 GTB4 3.
