Okay this is seriously one of the coolest things I've seen/read during my short tenure on this website. Can you please post some more details?!?! I've been fortunate enough to meet one McLaren in my lifetime and it was an awe-inspiring experience to say the least.
Anyone know if there are any in Canada other than the one in Quebec? I've heard rumours, but im not sure if they're true.
you should watch this, starting around 3.00 and on, haha.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zMcEJUp1YsA
Rob Thats awesome. What he wouldn't let you wear a Ferrari hat in his car? HAHA Hows the ride in a beast like that? Sound? Did you need a towel afterwards (for the seat!) Chris
what a great experience .. although it looks like the dash needs a good clean .. I guess its been too long between drives .. oh what a problem to have when you've got so many cars to choose from.
LOL, The dash centre console appears to be alcantra. When you touch it has that effect. That...or it's dirty
Nice........!!! If there ever was a supercar owner who epitomized the polar opposite of the snobby gold chain encrusted Ferrari/Lambo driver, Jay is it. He has a car site with a BB that he actually frequents regularily. How's that for cool ?
Guys I gotta tell you that it was a little dream come true. Now for some non incriminating details. I was at Supercar Sunday yesterday. The day started off cool with very few cars but I hung around anyways. Sure enough the skies cleared and the weather warmed. I was chatting with a nice guy I met there and there it was my first McLaren spot in the wild driving on the road in the background. As soon as I saw the car I knew the owner and his destination so a few seconds later the car was in the parking lot. So I go up to the car, introduce myself and we start chatting about the car. After a while Mr.Leno remarked how I REALLY knew my stuff on the McLaren (it is one of my fav cars) so, without my asking, he said 'Lets go for a ride'. After choosing which side to sit in, we took off for a good half hour drive. It was really great, some full throttle blasts right up to the posted speed limit (lol) and twisty roads gave an excellent feel for the car. It was incredible and, although the Enzo sounded better, I much prefered my experience in the McLaren. The nicest part of it all is that it was no different than any other enthusiast meeting. In the past I have taken people for rides in my Ferrari and have been taken for rides by other die hards. In the end the whole celebrity thing is a bunch of BS. It was just a couple car guys talking cars and going for a ride. Sure the car was really special but it was the cool interaction with a car fan that made my day.
There are some more photos in this thread: http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=225348 As for the subject of my 308, I did bring it up and JL mentionned that he liked that car and that you can work on it yourself. CF sales were not the topic of coversation although we did discuss what I did for a living.
Jay apparently has a 308/328 (I'm bad at telling the difference). On last nights Top Gear James May interviewed Jay and they showed a few shots of his garage. At the 5:13 mark of this video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bLbVAvdT1fs) you can see the nose of the car.
I was told he has no Ferraris. That said just because a car is in his garage it does not mean it is his. I know that a lot of cars flow through his place and not all of them are owned by the man. Maybe the 308 / 328 was just visiting.
