The first mistake a lottery winner makes is buying stuff for other people... P.T. BARNUM said " a fool and his money are easily parted" See below http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A36338-2005Jan25.html
Exactly.. If I ever won, I am going to some undisclosed location in Europe... Build a moat around my house followed by an extremely rough and secluded driveway.... and then I would 3 Uni-Mogs for myself. My parents are well off but could careless about what they drive and what I would buy them They aren't car people. My dad wouldn't mind another boat though.
Dad: BMW M5 Mom: Porsche 911 cab Brother: Nissan GTR Me: nothing. I don't want people hitting me up for money.
Mom: BMW 135i Coupe (she's small and doesn't like the sun beating down on her) Dad: Schwinn Paramount P-15 (he doesn't drive much) Brother: 512 TR GF: MB SLK55 Dog: '69 El Camino SS396
Dad: Maserati QP Mom: Cayenne Turbo Sister: maybe an S5 Brother: Cayenne Turbo ( he loves that car) Me: an F430 Spyder Grandparents: MB E Class
Mom Cadillac SRX or Nissan Murano Dad Ford Edge Oldest Sister Tor Red (Hemi Orange) Dodge Challenger SRT with 6 speed manual Middle Sister Jeep Wrangler 4 door Youngest Sister Find her 85 Mustang SVO or new Shelby GT500 Brother in Law (youngest sister) Ford F150 King Ranch 4x4 Ex Brother in Law (middle sister) Ticket for a seat on the bus to Hell Of course everybody gets a gas card
I agree on giving expensive cars as gifts are bad ideas. I would rather pay off my family members' bills or add the cars to my collection and lend them out. Maintenance and insurance would be a burden on the recipient IMO. Dad: 1967 Shelby GT500 or Daytona Spyder Mom: Ferrari California Brother: F430 Scuderia or NSX Sister: M6 convertible Me: F40 and F50
Mom: Range Rover Sport Dad: BMW Z4M Sister 1: BMW 335Xi Sister 2: Audi A4 Me: Ferrari Testarossa, 430, BMW M3
Mom: 68 Corvette convertible with modern engine, transmission and brakes. She`s always wanted one as a shopping-car. Dad: He`s pretty happy with his 996, so that`s difficult... Something moore track-biased perhaps? A Cayman with all the mecanical parts from a GT3RS. Sister and brother in law: So NOT interested in cars or taking care of them. A Lexus RX400h would probably do the trick. Reliabel, safe, comfortable and free of congestioncharge.
Mom: Acura MDX Dad: S2000 CR, 2005 NSX, 2001 NSX, Audi R8 Brother: 2009 BMW M3 Me: Ariel Atom, Noble M12 GTO, Bentley Arnage, Corvette ZR1
For Mom and Dad? Open Checkbook at the local Chevy, Buick, Cadillac dealership... For my four brothers: Nothing for 3 of them, but for the public school teacher, see above... For the kids: Trust Funds with an annual allowance... Mike in Kuwait
This is just for fun seeing what you would buy for your family members. I would probably do what would do as well.
Dad: Ferrari 599 in Black (I'm almost certain that's his dream car) Mom: SL63 (She has a SL55 right now and it's the only car she would ever want so I think a SL63 would be the only step up for her Brother: 2010 Camaro (His dream car) Me: Ferrari F430 Scuderia Spider 16M =]

Hm, interesting thread! Dad - An original 427 Cobra. He loves 'em. Mom - Probably any kind of new Lexus, like a LX570. Sister - She'd be really hard to buy for, I'm not sure what she'd like. Probably something simple like a Mustang GT, she likes those I think. Girlfriend (Not family but I'd kinda feel obligated to buy her something) - Mazda RX8 or Nissan 370Z. She loves both those. Myself - Saleen S7 TT, maybe a Maserati MC-12 also. EDIT: I'd definitely have to hook my best friend up, too. He'd probably take an Aston Martin Vanquish S.
Mom: Mercedes R-Class (she loves Mercedes but she's scared of anything with over 180hp) Brother: Blank cheque to buy whatever he wants (pretty sure he would want a Cayenne GTS and an Aston Martin DBS Best friend (practically my brother): Range Rover Sport and a 997 Carrera Me: As many uniquely optioned Stradales as I could find Father's side of the family: A picture of the cheque with my name on it (I hate them) Mother's side of the family: Nothing. Even after winning the lottery, they would probably still be better off than me
All get S8s. Dad gets any Ferrari of his choice and whatever Truck he wants and basically any thing else he wants. Mom would not want any thing but the A8. Bros would get a truck, Ferrari, and Porsche or two....
My parents aren't into cars at all so they would probably be bothered with a Bentley-priced car which they didn't appreciate. Mom & Dat: BMW X6 : Ford F-250 King Ranch Diesel : Mercedes E-Class Brother & Sister-in-law: Ford Raptor SVT : Ferrari F430 : BMW M5
Almost my entire family drive Prius'.......They think Im a wasteful, horrible, earth plundering pig..........I still love them and thank them for offsetting my carbon footprint! I would buy them all Hummers!!!!!!!
LOL. Dad: '56 Chevy Belaire, TR6, probably something modern. Mom: Probably a Mercedes SL55 AMG, she's mentioned she likes the SL's. Probably a SUV. Me: Endless possibilities.
