Porsche hasnt been able to design a proper car for decades, the 911 is an evolutionary design, cayenne and caymans are ugly.

Actually, the chili pepper looks better now that this thing has come out.

The depreciation is going to be ugly...

I don't think it looks that bad, but it's not "porsche".

I doubt many people would pick this car over a Maserati Q.

Price aside, the Aston Martin Rapide wins it for me.

to me it looks like it would make an awesome hearse!

but bottom line, you will read reviews and owners tell you its the greatest sedan on the planet. i had the same reaction when the Cayenne came out and look how well that has done.

but yes, i would rather buy the Maser or Audi S8

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder,I like it personally, the rear end evokes (for me) the 928 (still consider it one of the greatest cars I have ever had the pleasure to own).
It will eat the Maser and S8 for breakfast, too.........

porsche clearly foresaw the economic crisis in the US- as there is no way we were the primary intended market with basically a wagon. Americans love trunks- euro's love the hatchback.

I don't know what's worse...this thing or the newly introduced diesel powered Cayenne (which Taxi drivers here in Europe will soon get their hands on).

Meh...it might grow on me with time.

La mia Alfa 75 sta guardando bene ora...(my Alfa Milano looks good now)!

Grazie Porsche! Seriously, I'm sure it will drive beautifully but the only good view will be from inside the car-they were better off copying the new VW CC....

    :)

If they really wanted a diesel in the Cayenne, they should have taken the V10 from the Tuareg or the V12 from from the Q7.

I wonder if they'll stick the 240hp turbo diesel in the Panamera too now? Probably. What a great way to kill what's left of the brand.

When I see my first P-Taxi I'll you guys know...

    1. Aesthetics are very unfortunate, but then I think the 997 isn't much of a looker.

    2. I bet it will be a great seller.

Wow, although I am a die hard fan of the marque, they can make some seriously ugly vehicles.

Who IS their (lack of styling) department? Blech!

Its avery ugly car in my opinion. But it will be a great seller nevertheless. People will buy it for te prestige of owning a Porsche, certainly not for its looks.

    I don't think you'll get the 550hp for $120-130K.

    Ugly as sh*t, period!

Maserati QP is far far better....
    as is:
    Jaguar XJ relacement (likely)
    Rapide (for sure)
MB CLS AMG (out there now and better)
    BMW 8-Series/CS Concept (likely)

Porsche likely will sell thanks to all the badge whores out there....but really really lame!
    :(

    Maserati is hopelessly underpowered,
Rapide will be priced at almost twice the money,
CLS63 is dime a dozen and looks the same as the much cheaper 550 model,
Jaguar? Will have to wait for that one and see...
BMW is already out of equasion since it was just cancelled.
Yes,I do expect Panamera Turbo at $120k-130 and it will be the only car in that group with AWD (very helpful in Snowbelt)

i don't care how powerful the turbo is, that car is just plan stupid looking. i understand sticking with the porsche nose but why on earth wouldn't you take a few minutes to design a unique rear end??? Even with a porsche badge who is gonna buy this?

They'll sell fine for the first 6 months... and then... sales will fall off the cliff.

I predict the same fate for the Alfa 8c...

Are you kidding me about the Alfa 8C?! That thing is drop dead gorgeous! If it falls off it will be due to price, but I think all the 8C's that will ever be built are spoken for already so it is a moot point.

The Panamera... well, Porsche should certainly fire all the current designers and start over. The Cayenne and this car both could be TONS better looking, but NOOOOO, the made them look like every other SUV and like an UGLY 4 door car! Just sad. They must have taken their current direction from BMW... maybe they should look in house to Audi for help on the design front!

    YMMV
