    It's not a roll of carpet. It's a roll of protection sheet (sort of insulation/vibration/sound proof) that goes on top of chassis frame before sheet metal goes back into the car (floor).

    One has to wonder that when these cars were built they were arguarbly not done with the same care and attention to detail as the restoration...
