Have a question for you guys over in the UAE... I'm wanting to get a list of used "exotic" car dealers in Dubai area and not knowing the best way to go about this. Is there an "easy" way? I've tried some hunting around on the internet and have come up with some decent web sites (such as Dubai-lime), but I am thinking there is a phone book or similar list of dealers easier to find. Here's my reason... (in case you have a good idea for me) better than what I am suggesting. Or maybe you see where I am going with this idea, and can make suggestions. I've built very unique custom Porsche for 19 years... kind of specialize and am drawn to the cars that seem to be popular in the UAE. I am currently building a custom Porsche Boxster which will look like a Gemballa Avalanche 997 (if you know what that looks like)... It's a $400K+ car from Gemballa. But with a Boxster body to start with, I can price it somewhat reasonably, for such an exotic looking car. 20 years ago I built many dozens of Slantnosed Porsches for the Japanese market, which was doing very well back then. With our US dollar dipping so much, and the style of cars I am currently going to be building, I am hoping to establish a relationship with a few dealers there in Dubai area, to see if these cars could sell (which I know they will). I know Gemballa in Germany relies quite heavily on his sales of his wild Porsches to the mideast countries. And I think that the totally custom reasonably priced Avalanches that I am building will fill the niche market of the younger guys who dont have the money to be driving the $100K+ cars... but would love to look like they do. 10-15 cars a year, is what I'd be looking for... to give you an idea. I understand the stigma of the Porsche Boxster being the poormans Porsche. But understand, the cars I build look like show cars, and do look like they are worth double, triple the price I sell them for. In this case, will look MUCH better than the custom $150K Boxster Gemballa was building 2-3 years ago... because it have the front end look of the 997. Hi Salman & Mike, thanks for the replies. I'll post some photos very soon. I posted this a bit early... I know I should have waited till the car was at least 90% finished. Right now we have one side almost completed & ready to make our molds. The parts we make for the car "conversion" will be carbon fiber composite... and look VERY much like the Gemballa avalanche 997. The only thing that will look Boxster-ish will be the rear-end, of course. It'll have the exhaust exiting the middle of the rear bumper (ala Gemballa's $150K Boxster) with all stainless steel exhaust, and very similar exit pipes that the German tuner used. The first one will probably be this satin black paint color. The colors I love using on the Porsches, are the Lambo colors... pearl green, pearl orange, pearl yellow etc... So I'd be building them pretty wild looking. It's what keeps it fun & interesting to me. Boring colors and body styles make for not much fun work. If you can hang on till I get the rockers & front bumper modified, I'll post a few photos. Supposedly I'll be getting those pieces within the next 2 weeks. For now, I'll just try to throw up a few photos of what it's going to look VERY similar too. ;o) The price I'm aiming for is a bit under $40K. Thanks Salman, I don't do much work for clients... almost all of the cars I build are to suit my tastes. Then I sell the car. It's more fun that way... and I seem to have good taste (if I do say so myself... hehe) because the cars always sell quickly... many times I've has guys fighting over a car. Fair prices & a top quality conversion are the reasons, I'm sure. Turn on your speakers, & click on "View Slideshow". I've built many more, they are just not shown in the photos. So many boring red ones I cant count. hehe I tried to show the interesting looking ones, so guys could see the wild colors that could be done. Unfortunately the 930S slantnoses I built were so long ago (20 years) that I have no digital photos of them... they are all stored away somewhere where I have my old paper photos. ;o) I think the photos on my site will give you an idea of the quality any style that I like to build. We make all those parts on the site... (in case you were curious). Finally got around to getting a website, as you can tell from the low counter.... but hey, after 20 years doing this I figured it was about time. Trying to grow the business a bit. Here's a few photos of a car I just did for myself (after the pearl orange car sold) This one was a plane-jane 2004 996, that nobody would have looked twice at. The goodies installed: Techart style front bumper, rockers, rear bumper, GT2 tail, Gemballa style hood, rear window spoiler, C4S 19" rims, lowered with H&R coils, etc... I think I'll be selling it pretty soon... Like to get a bit over $50K. If you know of anybody interested, it only has 24,ooo miles & runs flawless. Tiptronic transmission is a blast to drive. The photos of the camera mounted on the car, are a freind of mine who does TV shows & wanted to help me make a little video for the car. A fun project!
