Here are a few photos I took of downtown Chicago in 2007.Its a great time for people
who like fine tall buildings. They have the Chicago Spire,Trump,Waterview,
Astoria,Legacy,Museum Place 1 and 2,BCBS,Aqua and more around 300-600 meter tall building going up now in Chicago!!!
Thats second to only Dubai for new supertall construction! It wil be amazing when completed.
You can see construction cranes all over the south and central part of the city.

I have only been to Chicago once when I was really young, but I am going in about a month for spring break and I can't wait. I have always wondered how those cars stay in that parking garage. Anyone know?

I love Chicago. I like to stay at the Hyatt with a view of the Wrigley Building. The Big Bar is nice. Walk to the Hancock Building before sunset and have a few drinks. Watch the falcons. Look down. Watch the sunset. Walk back down Michigan Ave. to www.bice.ws and eat.

I've always found Chicago to be absolutely beautiful through photos, though I have not yet had the opportunity to visit. I hope to do so this year!

Is that one tower, completely for autos?

Bottom half is car parking for tenants and the top half is apartments. Had a buddy who rented there. Decent apartment, but you really pay for the view. And it is a great view.

That photo of the Spire is with the "old" Chicago skyline. It does not include any of the under
construction buildings in the render.I love the way the Spire looks.

Allstate did a really creative advertisement...they had a car suspended off the edge of that parking deck, supported by cables that was simulating if someone backed out, through the barrier, and off the edge. It was really neat.

    Brilliant thread!

I've been taking pics of the Trump tower under construction since the beginning of the dig. Have to post some here.

Plan on doing the same thing for the Spire. Finally a Calatrava building in town!

Awe inspiring video. Breathtaking doesn't even begin to describe it.

Funny thing though: I think they omitted the Trump Tower at the end of the video. It should be visible in that shot and it isn't. I guess they didn't want to send potential customers to the competition. :)

I've only been to Chicago once. For a mere 8 hours. I loved every second of it and can't wait to go back.

And it's worth noting, it was 30 degrees and misting all day long and I walked everywhere. I felt that was part of the experience. Maybe my attitude would have been different if it were during the snowy season? No, I doubt it. :)

Here is a small 2008 Chicago Skyscraper update.
The Legacy under construction (photo 1) will stand almost 900 Feet
tall right behind the Michigan Avenue streetwall. Trump Chicago update (photo 2),
Blue Cross(photo 3), overview of downtown (photo 4), Museum Park (photo 5)
and looking east at Trump and 300 N (photo 6). They are still installing the caisons
for Chicago Spire. The Wolf Point project will start construction next year.

    Best,

It's kinda neat how Da Trump has changed Chicago's skyline: From everywhere you look you now see that hairdo, err that tower. :)

Seriously, it shows up in views where you least expected it.

I like the Trump Chicago. I think its almost like a mirror at sunrise and sunset. I forgot to mention Waterview. It should be back on track in
a month or two. Teng ran out of money, so another developer may pick up the half completed project. Waldorf and the River Point projects are the next big ones we all hope will start next year. In another year everyone will be talking about Legacy, mark my words. Aqua is also coming along.
They are adding railing to the Aqua that will add a 3D aspect to the building.

I like Aqua. Looked at its maps, not for investment, just for fun. It'll be beautiful.

We took an architectural boat tour downtown a few years back and it was great. Learned so much about what we were seeing.
I think there are a couple of different tours. I'm married to a Willmette - New Trier HS girl, so I have gotten to know Chicago and the North Shore through my 33 years of marriage, and its got it all. Great food, music, people, and business climate. Thanks for the pics.
