Interesting almost identical advert currently on UK F.O.C. website:

Wonder who has P4 parts to sell? (again).

This same ad pops up about once a year. It is unclear how genuine the advertiser is?

I'm the party in question, with the above mentioned P4 parts. Didn't mean to cause so much concern. Got the pins and hubs new from Technomagnesio (previously Campagnolo) probably mid to late '80's. Water pump housing is a new spare, unknown origin. Have one dist. cap left, was spare, used. Hope this clears up the mystery.
    Thanks,
    Paul

Appears to be aluminum. Looks like two halves welded together, strange as that may sound

Thanks but that is not original either. (That said it's a lot more serviceable then the original mag. one which must be coated with epoxy on the inside to keep it from turning to dust)

    Paul,

Unfortunately I cannot see this picture ... ;), but I my post was not intended to have a dig or otherwise be disrepectful to your replica. I meant it (assuming that those parts were real and had seen action) as a great future conversation piece (once you had bought them): "See those pins there, they ran at Le Mans in 0856 in '68 ..."

I would have thought that would have meant something to you being Mr P4 ;)

Why would they use a magnesium water pump housing on an aluminum engine block? With race engines prone to fire, would not a magnesium water pump housing burning at 5000 degrees pretty much guarantee the entire engine would be turned into toast?

Who cares it only has to reach the chequered flag first ... if it crashes that hard then it won't make the flag anyway.

    Lightness is everything!

A great deal of parts on the P3/4 engine and transaxle are magnesium. Water pumps corrode because they sit with coolant in them for long periods of time. David Piper was selling unmachined water pump castings some fifteen years ago. Other engine builders have adapted all sorts of water pumps to these engines. I believe #0844 had a Cosworth water pump on it at one point. Most of the cars are running GT40 radiators.

Not a problem - I suspect you know who kindly forwarded them to me. ;)

You'll need to re-size them to 800x600 first, before uploading.

Hi, I was wondering if you happen to have a set of P4 style knock offs available for sale? I've been building a 412P recreation for years with the help of D.Piper and have been unable to locate a set. Currently running Lambo Miura Knockoffs to keep the wheels on. : ) Reproduction parts would of course be fine. 42MM, Norwood, Tom Meade parts are OK for me. Thanks, Nino
